C64AI – AI Chat Meets SID Music on Real Commodore 64 Hardware
What if your Commodore 64 could chat with an AI — while playing real SID music at the same time?
C64AI brings modern AI-powered conversation to the C64 and C128, without breaking the classic 8-bit spirit. Chat interaction and SID playback run simultaneously and smoothly, proving once again how far the C64 can still be pushed.
The project supports:
- Real C64 / C128 hardware via User Port + FT232RL
- Raspberry Pi Zero 2 or any modern 64-bit system
- Full keyboard and mouse (1351) control
- SID file browsing, loading, playback, and track switching
SID compatibility is carefully handled, with clear guidelines and relocation support to ensure stable playback on real hardware.
C64AI runs on:
- Original hardware
- Emulators (VICE + virtual serial ports)
- Mouse or keyboard-only setups
This is not a mockup, not a demo — it’s a working bridge between 1982 and today.

This update features (all approximates):
688 new SIDs
15 fixed/better rips
2 repeats/bad rips eliminated
288 SID credit fixes
35 SID model/clock infos
4 tunes from /DEMOS/UNKNOWN/ identified
4 tunes from /GAMES/ identified
19 tunes moved out of /DEMOS/ to their composers' directories
4 tunes moved out of /GAMES/ to their composers' directories
We have finally reached and surpassed 60,000 SIDs in this update!
Another great milestone thanks to the contributions of many musicians keeping
the spirit alive!
