New Temple

We took a drive today and saw the new Temple in Brigham City. It is very breathtaking!  It looks like they are just putting up the inside walls but the exterior is of white granite or some kind of stone and looks a lot like the Salt Lake Temple.

Some Change Around Here

The other day I took a photo of our front yard and saw something very strange on the lawn.

If you didn't see the forsale sign then now you know that we making a big change.  We are excited and sad at the same time.  Sad that we are leaving our home but excited to start a new chapter in our life.  We have been working hard over the last several months get ready for this move.  And with Rick's job a few miles away we have decided to get closer to his work.  So here we go on another adventure!

Busy Summer

It's been an eventful summer.  We lived in San Diego all of June and most of July while Rick worked at his new company General Atomics.  Then we moved home and started working in Dugway.  Here is a picture of the aircraft hanger where I spend lots of my time.
Image
Here is a picture of the aircraft that I work on.  They are pretty awesome!  It makes me want to get a radio controlled aircraft and have some fun!

We just got new carpet for our bedrooms and living room.  We have had the old carpet since we moved in. It still looked pretty decent but it was time to get new stuff.  We are putting new stone tile in the entry and it looks great!

We hope to have a few more family get-togethers in the next couple of months.  It is always fun to get together and talk and play games.  Jordan is leaving this week to go back to USU for school and we will miss having him around.  He is excited to continue his studies.  Engineering is cool and awesome!

Marathon at Disneyland

We just spent two wonderful days at Disneyland!  We had the chance to be with Jared and Amelia as they were moving to Fort Lewis in the beautiful state of Washington from their home in the beautiful state of Arizona.  Jo and I are still here working in San Diego.
 Image
So we got up and were at the main gate by 7:30 am to check Henry into the Disney home for dogs and then we played all day long and got home at 11:30 pm.

We were getting ready to ride the Indiana Jared ride..I mean the Indiana Jones ride.  When Jared worked at the ride we called him Indiana Jared.  He also worked the Jungle Cruise and the parades and the Opera House and lead tours for Junior High students and taught Disney Traditions.  Amelia spent a lot of days inside the Disney costumes including Pluto, Buzz Lightyear, a lion ( I don't remember the name) and many other characters.  She has practically grown up at Disney.  All of her family has worked there at one time or another and her sisters still work there.  We estimated she has been there at least over a thousand times and maybe closer to two thousand.
Image
Henry got to stay in Dog Heaven while we walked all over the parks.  He is so cute and was very good.

Image
I have lots of fun taking our pictures holding out the camera.  It's a guessing game and luckily most of them turn out OK!
 Image
We had a blast.  It was so much fun we got up the next day and did it again, although not as early and not staying as late.  And we had our picture taken with Mickey.  Amelia's sister Amy was one of Mickey's helpers and was very nice to be a part of our picture!

Jordan's Visit

Jordan has been working in Hawaii and decided to come home early to get ready for school.  We convinced him to fly to San Diego (it wasn't hard) and stay with us for a few days.  We had a great time.
Image
We went out to the Hotel Coronado to get some ice cream!
Image
Then we went to La Jolla beach and watched the surf and the seals on the beach.  Real lazy animals but pretty cute.

Image
We went for a hike and played in the surf at Torrey Pines Beach

And then he drove one of our cars home so Jo didn't have to drive it.  Sweet!

Sea Lions and dolphins are entertaining!

I found this short video of the sea lions in their feeding cage.

And then there are the dolphins.  The show was great!

SeaWorld, Shamu, Sea Lions, Oh My!

If you are ever in San Diego you have to go to SeaWorld and see all the amazing shows.  And that is just what we did last Friday.
Image
For one of the shows I was called out of the crowd to assist in the 'feats of strength'.
Image
They are opening a new sea turtle exhibit and we found a friend there.  It was just like watching the turtles in Nemo.
Image
The killer whale program was great!  They had five whales that performed.  The best was the mother and her little one which followed every move it's mother made.

The sea lions and the tiny otter always put on a great show.
  Image

Image
We also watched the feeding of the seals and sea lions (and the sea gulls).  One girl right next to me had a fish in her hand and a sea gull flew right up and took it out of her hand.  And it's wings hit me in the face!

Image
The funnest part of the whole trip is that we paid a little more for our ticket and got 'Premium Passport Reserved Seating' at all the big shows.  We had perfect seats!  Ha! Ha!

Fun with the grandchildren

Just before we left Utah to come to San Diego we went bowling with Lori and Adia and Gavin.
We had a great time.  We miss them already.

Image

We are on the move again.

We are now living in San Diego!  Rick accepted a new position with General Atomics and is working at their facility here.  In a few months we will return and Rick will be working at Dugway, UT for the company.  It is a great job and we are excited.
Image
As you can see we love going to the beaches and watching and hearing the surf.  The weather couldn't be better.  We feel bad hearing about all the rain and snow in Utah.

One of our first trips was to the Mexico border.  We ended up at an outlet mall and found some new work clothes.  It was weird to see the border right behind the stores.  And we were the one of the few that spoke English. Most of the workers spoke both Spanish and English.  It was fun for Rick to hear the spanish again.

New Shower Door

We finally got our shower door installed and it is awesome. It is a great looking glass door. It is hard to remember what the old shower looked like. I am very excited on how it all turned out.

Jared created a family history blog a while ago. It lists several family trees. I thought I would put a link to it on our blog.

The Bathroom Remodeling Projects

We decided to replace our shower and bathroom floors with travertine stone tiles.  It has taken a few weeks to get the master bath done but it has been worth it.  I tore out the old shower and floors and rebuild the shower.

Image

The shower was enclosed on all four sides except for a small door.  I took out the wall where the door was so the shower ended up U shaped.  It looks great.  Our neighbor Howdy Whipple installed the stone for the shower and the floor in that bathroom.

Following his example I just replaced the old floor in the main bathroom with the travertine stone tile.
Image
Now I have to replace the baseboard and touch up some of the paint.  Then on the the entry way floor.  Hopefully I can get that done in the next few weeks.

Trip to Tombstone

Image

Jo and I planned for a few months to go visit Jared and Amelia at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, where Jared is in school.

We took one day to visit the old town of Tombstone.  It was awesome.  It still had the feel of an old west town. Lots of town folks were strutting around and we also saw a reenactment of the shootout.

Dahl Family History: Welcome to the Dahl Family History Blog

It's a new year but I haven't finished posting for last year.  Boy, am I slow....

Jared created this family history site.  I have lots of pictures and stories that can be added to it someday.  It's hard enough keeping up with our lives today.  Here is the link to the family history blog.
