See ya Later Suckers!

Image

Well, the girls and I have spent the last month with my sister, Amber, and her family. It was our last visit before they made their big move to Massachusetts. I am sure going to miss them and so will my little Avery who is already crying for her cousin Owie! We spent time just hanging out, going to the Dinosaur Park and refereeing fights between the kids. It was great! Amber, I love you so very much and it breaks my heart to see you go. You have been such a great sister and an even better support. I know that we won't see a lot of each other over the next years, but I am always here if you need me. Thanks for being such a great friend to me and a fun aunt to my girls. And in the immortal words of Avery Kate, "See Ya Later Suckers!"

So grateful that I am THEIR mommy!

Image
Today, amid the chaos, the whining (from me...not just the kids), the fights....it suddenly hit me that of all of the people on this earth, I was the one that was given the opportunity to raise these two girls....And they are wonderful girls! I know that everybody feels that way about their own children, and lucky thing, because I think otherwise we all might drop them off somewhere when things got tough! But really, Avery and Madison are just the smartest, sweetest, most loving children that I could have hoped for and for some reason I am THEIR mommy. I am in awe of it, really, that somehow I was seen as capable of being the one to teach them about love and life and all of the little things that are important to become a self sufficient, competent and self assured individual. I am grateful for the opportunity, because I realize (somewhat selfishly) that after only three years of this, I am now a more self sufficient, competent and self assured individual. Funny how that works, huh?

Mommy....A Lawyer?

Image
The other day, my oldest daughter Avery asked me if I was a builder. I told her, "No, I am a Mommy and a Lawyer." Avery said, "Mommy, NO you're NOT a Lawyer!" I told her that I really, really am a lawyer and she became very upset, looked at me and said, "But Mommy, you're nice!" I just laughed and laughed. Only three years old and aware of the stigma of my trade!
