THIS, makes me so angry. And not just because it’s happening, but because nobody believes me it’s happening…. subsidies are literally killing the Earth with overconsumption. If I ever say on Facebook that people upgrade their solar systems like they upgrade their phones, I’m ridiculed with a barrage of laughter emojis and comments about how it’s all recyclable.
Just because something is recyclable doesn’t mean it’s recycled. Over the years I’ve seen so many used systems for sale on marketplace that can’t be LEGALLY REUSED because they’ve fallen off the list of ‘approved’ equipment, it’s mind boggling. Good for me who’s building an off grid cabin without subsidies (because I can do it myself and save as much as the subsidy is worth) I’ll buy used PVs for half price…
Tgen there’s the whole grid tied battery bullshit. Been there done that, complete waste of time and effort and money. If you must have batteries, then go off the grid and stop supporting the unsustainable energy consumption that is capitalism….
Anyone wondering why we’re in a SURPLUS ENERGY crisis, here’s the reason… These dumped systems will have a ZERO ERoEI, all dumped before they have a chance of repaying the ENERGY it took to build and install it all…. This is pure enshitification.
Nobody is screwing systems to their roofs to avoid climate change – it’s actually part of the problem – they’re doing it to save money. So that they can continue spending what they earn to buy SUVs and overseas holidays….
