Groovin'

It takes a minute for him to get going, but it's worth watching the whole way through. This was the second round because the first, David and I were laughing to hard to hold the camera. Enjoy!

Spring time...bring on the shorts!

We are so excited for spring! Mason's and my trip to Utah was great. It was nice seeing everyone and Mason got all the attention he could ever dream of. Stephanie's wedding was beautiful, and as cute as Mason was in his tux, he didn't like being in it as much as everyone else did. He had a birthday party a few days early with grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, with cake, song, and presents. The cake really was not his favorite, but he got some fun toys, and with his short attention span, I had to open most of the presents. Everything was so cute though. David had to stay home due to classes, but he was able to do a little extra sight seeing Washington (with out having to drag Mason and I everywhere!). So on Mason's real birthday, we just sang him a few birthday songs, which he loved. His favorite thing about family home evening is when David and I sing together. You can tell by the look on his face that it's the coolest thing, although I'm sure someday he'll think it's torture, but for now its cute! Today is Mason's first day this Spring/Summer to where shorts so we are excited! We have pool toys and little swimmer diapers ready to go play in the pools! David is pretty overwhelmed with this second half of the term, but only 5 weeks or so left. He's been applying for internships this summer so we're crossing our fingers that something good turns out there. We hope everyone has a great Easter and, like Christmas, takes time to focus on the real reason for celebration.

Snowed in...

I better not go too much longer without getting an update going! Although the first of the three freak winter storms that we've had here on the east coast interrupted our holiday plans to Alaska, we were still able to get there safely, with out any illness, and have a GREAT time! Mason loved all of the attention, David loved the Wii, and I just loved being there with everyone! Since arriving home, the second and third freak storms have kept church canceled two Sundays in a row, and school canceled for two weeks straight with the exception of one afternoon. Bless their hearts, the Virginia DOT is just not equipped to keep up with these amounts of snow, but it is beautiful and reminds us of Utah and Alaska! Also since returning from Alaska, Mason has gone from only being able to stand while holding on to something to complete independent walking. In fact, he swats your hand away if you try to help him! He loves the speed and ever increasing agility. David and I do too, he's so cute! We were able to go see the U.S. Capital building, the National Museum of American History, and the George Washington Memorial Masonic Lodge last month. After a random minor accident involving my big toe (and an ER visit), I didn't enjoy our couple of days there as much as I would've liked to, but the wheelchair at the Smithsonian gave me some relief...and a good upper body workout! It was fun though! In our health news, Mason went just over two months without any illness, even runny nose. However, for the last week he has been battling a urinary tract infection and nasty cold (bad cough and LOTS of yucky nose gunk) that caused an ear infection. Needless to say, our normally very happy and energetic boy has been miserable, but still adorable. He must just be making up lost time since not being sick since November. The antibiotic should resolve the yuckiness soon. David is in his 2nd semester of the Urban Planning and Design grad program. The more he learns about it, the more he loves it! His grades last semester were awesome and should be this semester, too. My job at the pediatrician's office is great: great people and great hours. I've also been keeping busy with several craft projects (some thanks to my new sewing machine from my parents!). We're looking forward to next weekend when David's parents and brother, Brad, come for a quick weekend visit as Brad is completing his mission. Mason and I are also exited to head west again in March for my sister Stephanie's wedding. We hope everyone is having a great winter! Through all the snow, I have to remember... someday spring will come!

The Holidays are coming already?!

Here we are in November, past mid-terms for David, 6 more weeks till we go to Anchorage for Christmas...yay! I started my job as a nurse at a Pediatric clinic a few weeks ago and am really liking it so far. David is staying very busy with school and his teacher assistant jobs (3 in all). Mason is crawling at the speed of light, very efficiently pulling himself up onto every thing, and maneuvering his way around standing up...several people have told us we have our hands full with what appears to be a soon-to-be early walker! We were the Rubble family (from the cartoon, The Flintstones): Barney, Betty, and Bam-Bam for Halloween. I had to get creative and sew the costumes by hand, but they turned out good enough to be able to tell what we were dressed as. We are really missing going to the BYU football games (or at least being able to watch them on the TV), but we like it here in Virginia and have taken advantage of a couple of free days to sight see in D.C. The most recent event in our lives was Mason's hospilization this last week. He's had a couple of ear infections on top of what the doctor is thinking was the flu. He tested negative for RSV, but had all the symptoms. So Mason was a real trooper and spent the last three days in the hospital getting treated for wheezing, difficulty breathing, mucos, and low oxygen..all the while smiling most of the time! He is so sweet. We're looking forward to the holidays and wish we could see everyone, especially this time of year, but our thoughts and prayers are with you all!
