Ten on Tuesday
1. Went to the hospital very early Wednesday and ended up having an emergency c-section. What a relief to have my little Nathan born healthy and strong.
2. Spent all day wednesday confined to my hospital bed, partly because I still couldn't move very much and I was hooked up to all sorts of lines( IVs, oxygen, and some leg thing that kept "massaging " my legs to prevent any blood clots). I realized how nice the pain meds were once they started to wear off the next morning.
3.Spent thursday and friday recovering from the surgery and was happy to head home friday night for some sleep in my bed.
4. My Mom and Dad arrived Thursday night. My mom is staying to help me for two weeks. It is great to have someone around especially since I've been an invalid for the past few days. It is difficult to do anything when in hurts to lean over. I am also not allowed to pick up any thing over 15lbs or drive a car for 3 weeks.
5. My Dad and Dave spent all day Saturday installing the swamp cooler in to the kitchen window. This required them to move the steps for the deck and build some new railings. While they were working on the deck they also built a gate to keep the dogs off the deck and away from the patio furniture when they are outside.
6. Dad left Sunday morning and we spent the day just relaxing.
7. Monday We all went over to Brad and Jo's for some BBQ hamburgers. Dave was able to spend some time working with Millie. It was nice to get out of the house for a few hours.
8. Went to Nathan's first doctors appointment today. He was in the 66% for height ( they got a better measurement of 20.5in) and his weight is in the 30%. So I guess that means he is tall and skinny.
9. I don't think the dogs have figured out Nathan yet. Both Chief and Frodo come over and check him out all the time, but Barney just tries to stay away from him. Barney did try to sit on my lap once while I was holding Nathan but could figure out how to get comfortable.
10.Well I better get back to Nathan, he is awake.

The Delivery
I started to get the first signs that Nathan was coming Saturday night when I started having minor contractions. They mostly just felt like strong cramps. They continued all day Sunday so Dave and I Just stayed home and relaxed as much as I could. By Monday the cramping had become pretty regular, often enough that I really couldn't get anything accomplished. By the time Dave got home from work they were every 7 minutes apart. They weren't super painful just really uncomfortable and getting progressively stronger. After that they were about every 5 minutes apart so I called the Doctor and he said I should go to the hospital and get checked just in case I was in labor. Of course as soon as the nurse had me hooked up to the monitors the contractions stopped so they sent me home. Of course they started up again when we got home, but I knew now that I needed to wait until they are really painful and they didn't want me to come until they were 2-5 minutes apart.
I ended up a spending all day Tuesday with strong regular contractions and by early afternoon they had became much more painful and strong. But they still were only 7 minutes apart so I waited until Dave got home from work. At around 6pm they had become even stronger and were now happening every 2-5 minutes apart. I was nervous about going in to soon again so We waited 2 hours before we decided we should really go in. Unfortunately when they checked me I was only dilated to 1.5 so they had Dave and I walk around the hospital for 2 hours and then rechecked me. There was no change although I was having strong contractions every 2 minutes.
I think I started crying when the Doctor stepped in and said he was going to send me home with a sleeping pill( like a pill was going to allow me to sleep through that kind of pain) The nurse told me to come back when the pain was 3 times stronger, which to be honest I did not think was even possible to experience. They had me take the sleeping pill, but all it did was make me really dizzy. We left for home at 11pm and for the next couple of hours I tried everything I could think of to deal with the pain. Finally at 3am they had gotten so much stronger and painful I could no longer lay in bed so I started to walk around the house. Even though they were only 2 minutes apart I was afraid to go back to the hospital I knew I couldn't take it if they sent me home again. Finally I curled up in a ball on the family room floor when I had a really strong contraction and my water broke.
We made it to the Hospital a little after 4am and when the nurse checked me I was still only dilated to 2.5, but this time she could feel his bottom instead of his head. She rushed back in with the ultrasound to see where the head was and found he was breech coming butt first. After that every thing happened so fast. She called the doctor and then came back in and said they I needed a C-section and they would get started at 5:00. Immediately they started hooking me up to IVs and took blood samples and started prepping me for the surgery. I think it all kind of scared Dave. I spent the whole time wishing that they could get started faster because by now the contractions were so bad that I was having a hard time stopping my body from pushing. I really wanted the epidural in a soon as they could.
I found the whole experience strange having seen so many c-sections on animals I knew what they were doing but could not feel a thing. By 5:30 I heard a baby crying and knew that Nathan had finally made it. They placed him by my head and they rushed him off with Dave to make sure his breathing was ok. Pretty much all the hours after that on Wednesday were a blur. After spending 3 days in the hospital I was more then ready to come home.

Ten on Thursday
1. Tomorrow will be my last day of work for a while. I have really been struggling the past couple weeks. My job is just a little too physically demanding and my legs and feet are usually throbbing by 5:00.
2. I caught a cold this week and left work yesterday to try and get some rest. I must sound pretty bad because the doctor today asked what medicines I have been taking. I am feeling a little better today and hope that means I will recover fast.
3. I had my weekly doctors appointment today and like always he said that everything still looks good. He did say that the baby hasn't dropped yet where he needs to be for me to go into labor. I guess he is still having too much fun playing up high.
4. It has been really windy this week. They winds have been so strong that it blew off the back half of our roof. Just part of living in Rexburg.
5. A couple of saturdays ago Dave put my new saddle on Millie and work her in the round pin. We are trying to work with her every weekend we get the chance.
6. Jolene's horse Miss finally had her baby very early tuesday morning. She is so cute! a little black and white paint filly with a lot of sass.
7. The next morning Jolene found that the other pregnant mare Velvet had also had her baby. She is a Thoroughbred and has the longest legs. She looks a little awkward on her feet, but I'm sure she'll grow into those legs eventually.
8. I actually remembered to watch the Kentucky Derby this year and was glad I didn't miss the race. It was pretty exciting seeing such an underdog move through the pack and win by such a long stretch.
9. The past few weekends Dave and I have focused on getting the yard ready for the season. Dave pruned the trees and even cut some bushes down that we didn't like. I help a little by riding the mower around with a rake and sweeper behind it to pick up all the dead grass and leaves left behind under the winter snow.
10. Dave finally pulled the boat out of storage monday night so that it could get summerized. He has lots of plans to fix the stereo before the boating season and is excited to get started.
