Confession

I am writing this because I need some advise. I have a confession I am not a very good teacher, or at least I don't feel like a very good teacher. Every Sunday I get the chance to teach a class full of 7 going on 8 year olds. Last year was actually pretty easy, low stress. I only had three kids and they mostly sat quietly and participated in my lessons. This year is a completely different story. This year I have 8 high energy kids( a couple extra rowdy ones) and I just can't manage to get them under control. And although I seem to get through the lesson I feel like most of them haven't listened to a word I have said. This last week was especially tough. The kids were literally bouncing off the walls and yelling. I could barely hear myself thinking. I really should have gone for some help but I am unsure if it would be ok to leave them alone so I could find help. I'll admit I was almost to the point of tears and completely exhuasted by the time we headed to sharing time.

So what would you do? How do you get kids to sit in their seats and listen? I already try to have activities during the lesson that get them moving because I know it is a lot to ask them to sit still for 50 minutes?

winter fun!

We are all getting a little cabin fever here, but finally the weather has been staying around 30 or above. I just love the winter when it is like this because at least it is warm enough to go out and play in the snow.

Nathan in all his gear and ready to play.

For Valentines day I got Dave a miniature remote control helicopter. He has been having fun trying to fly it around with out crashing into everything. Nathan loves to watch his dad fly the helicopter, but he is so funny when it falls to the ground he will not touch it unless someone else touches it first. He acts so afraid and will just point at it. maybe he is not as fearless as I thought.

Tonight Nathan had a great time hanging out with his best bud. Nathan's cheeks were seriously red from all the running around.

winter swimming

Yesterday it was -26 in the morning when I headed to work and that did not include the wind chill factor, yuck! With all the cold weather we were happy to drive to Jackson Wyoming last Saturday to enjoy a little swimming with the kids. Nathan loved it! When we first got there he would not leave the windows that you could see the pool from. He just loves the water. He loved going down the little water slid with Dave or me. He would  have a huge grin at the bottom. Dave even took him down the big water slid and he was laughing the whole way down and asked to go on it again. It is was so great to be able to enjoy some warm water while it was so cold outside.
My friend was able to get some great shots of the day.

We all decided we would stop and eat at Bubbas BBQ afterwords. The food was good and while we were there Nathan discovered the wonders of dipping his food. He would dip his piece of chicken or french fry in the ranch dressing then suck it all off then dip again. cute but messy.
