Video: Arthur Beatrice - "Midland"

Bizarrely, London-based group Arthur Beatrice seem to have survived the past couple of years in the music biz on the strength of one song*.

But what a song tho

"Midland" was originally released in March '12, a video came out a year later, and this here is its new music video, which gamely reflects the elegance of the track itself. Arf.

Arthur Beatrice's debut LP, Working Out, drops February 24th.

*mmm, exaggerated for dramatic effect.

MØ - "Don't Wanna Dance"

Latest video off MØMØMØYOUTH's new album No Mythologies to Follow (MØ Mythologies?), out March 10th, is so contradictory. BUT, THEY'RE DANCING IN IT. SO IS MØ. I THOUGHT SHE DON'T WANNA DANCE?

Also, the hair braids in this are OFF THE HOOK (CHAIN???) srsly is that how Danish hair normally looks, wow.

Listen: Indi - "Stay"

SUCH SHIMMERY SYNTHPOP! Produced by Joel Little, the man behind Lorde and BROODS, Indi is the stage name (?) of Indira Force (TERRIFIC NAME), one half of New Zealand synth duo Doprah (best known for their amazing cover of Arctic Monkeys' "Do I Wanna Know?"). Doprah are playing a few Laneway Festival shows, I think? Either that, or opening for Lorde somewhere in Aus/NZ.

Seems like Indi's branching out, there's definitely a market for bright cheery synthpop.

IF YOU LIKE THIS SONG, GET IT HERE (Bandcamp). It's name your price, so name your price.

Listen: Kyla La Grange - "Cut Your Teeth"

Been away from the music for a bit but I seem to be returning to that synthy-female-vocalist phase.

Wowee, what happened to Kyla La Grange, new track so modern, so minimalist, so coo-over-a-beat worthy. Much diff from 2012 Ashes Kylalagrange. Really digging the undulating synth pulses as well, good job Jakwob.

Listen: Broken Bells - "After the Disco"

BB are back with the title track off their new album, out early February. It's uptempo! It's cheery! It's singalong fun! It's DANGER MOUSE and James Mercer!

When you're done, check out a short film by Jacob Gentry, a collaboration between The Creators Project and Broken Bells, starring Anton Yelchin and Kate Mara.

Parts 1 and 2, are condensed into the music video for "Holding On for Life".

Mmm, space people.

Vampire Weekend - "Con te Partiro"

Yep yep, that's Ezra Koenig and the other Vampy Week boys covering Andrea friggin' Bocelli. As expected, there's some afrobeat rhythm thrown in, and this isn't an easy song to sing! Kudos, Koenig, and in Italian too.

Darren

Listen: Cosmo Sheldrake & Jana Eidse - "I Threw a Rock Into the Sea"

Cosmo's a strange 'un, he is. In one of the creativest (the essence of creativeness is making up one's own words) ways. He's back with a beautiful track, a "remixed fireside improvisation that took place on a remote island in British Columbia, Canada". Oh, and it was recorded on an iPhone.

For other Cosmo-politan goodness, check out "Rich" (feel-goody) and "The Fly" (literaturey).

Oh, and "I Threw a Rock into the Sea" is a free download! Yay!

Darren
