DIY all up in this piece...

Okay, so I totally just remembered I had a blog. Whoops. I just want you to know that I LOVE PINTEREST!!!!!!!!! I am addicted. I am inspired everyday with something new. It's the best! Okay so Chris and I recently bought a California King bed.
Image
It's a great bed and we now have room for everyone. Yes, we sleep with our furry children (I don't want to hear it). We got this great new bed with only a frame. Our previous bed had a beautiful headboard (very shabby chic). We had to get rid of it because it wouldn't fit our new Cali King frame. So, we just slept without a headboard, which really didn't bother me much. UNTIL I found this website. I just wanted to gander at the different types of headboards see if any tickled my fancy. Lo and behold I saw #8. It was totally doable and such a great idea!

Just so y'all understand how impulsive I am, I saw this yesterday and made Chris go with me today to get everything. Not only was it cheap, it was pretty easy. The picture has shutter doors that are taller than what I found and I'm so okay with that (less time waiting for paint to dry). Chris and I went to the Habitat for Humanity Restore. I love this place! There is so much to look at and get ideas from! Okay so Chris and I found these smaller shutter doors that worked for me!

($12)

Next stop was Lowe's Home Improvement. Some of the items I needed for the project were already in our garage (free, yes please). So about $35 later we are headed home to Rite Aid. I was feeling tired and wanted to try an energy drink. I have never had an energy drink in my life. It seemed the fastest way to give me a jolt.

I settled on trying this baby.
Image
I was so ready to get my energy on, I popped her open while Chris bought scratch off lotto tickets (no winners)at the front of the store.

Okay enough of that here's how this all went down.

First Second I primed the shutter with spray primer. Best stuff ever!

Actually FIRST I took off all the hinges.

Next I painted every other shutter.

Then using mending hinges put the shutters back together. (Check out Lucy's high speed tail.)

Finally I screwed in the headboard into the wall. I am pretty pleased with the final product! It's not the same width as the bed. I'm thinking about maybe finding some posts that I can screw onto the ends to make up the width. Did I mention I was impulsive? Right now, I'm cool with it. It's a nice upgrade and I'll take it!

In all it took about 4 hours. The longest part was waiting for the primer and paint to dry. I love it and it was super easy! YEAH PINTEREST! Also, that energy drink is DA BOMB.com! I love it! I totally felt the energy jolt without all the sugar and carbs of other energy drinks. I will be drinking more of those this coming school year!

What research paper?

I think procrastination* is under appreciated. It takes great skill to put off "huge major percentage of your grade" papers for the last minute. Sure as you're writing your paper you are cursing every hour past midnight that you have to stay up, but the paper DOES get done. That takes amazing skill and people who procrastinate should be given awards for their persistence and ability to complete the job in such a small amount of time. It's really something.
Now as with most incredible things (donuts, cupcakes, or chocolate) there is a downside. You won't get fat, but it is possible you stress yourself out and those you live with. Be it your significant other or your roomie, tension will be felt and emotions will rise. For those of you who live with a procrastinator here are some tips to living with your procrastinator when he or she is in the act of procrastinating.

1. NEVER tell them "you should have started this sooner". Unless you are ready to meet your maker, these words are never to leave your pretty little head. You may certainly think it, but NEVER NEVER NEVER say it.

2. Offer to make your procrastinator coffee or buy their favorite beverage to help them burn that midnight oil.

3. Skip the "how was your day, here's what I did..." conversation. I love you but please be quiet, I have a paper to write.

4. Favorite procrastinating snacks include, cheez-its, popcorn, chocolate, candy, and anything you can eat without have to look at it first. Grab and eat is a popular form of eating with procrastinators worldwide.

5. This is for significant others When the paper is finished and your loved one is getting into bed, do not ask what time it is. We all know I should have started this paper earlier and you asking me what time it is at 4am is going to make me mad. Being mad at 4am is not good.

6. My final tip for those living with a procrastinator, get over yourself. Doing things on time is totally overrated.

To my fellow procrastinators keep fighting the fight and never forget when you look at the time on your computer screen or wrist watch somewhere in the world another procrastinator is looking at their computer screen or wrist watch thinking "next time I'm starting my research paper like a month before it's due." Anyone can dream.

People Finder

I think the people finder on Facebook is the coolest thing ever! I have found like a million people I went to Elemetary school with!! I am so excited and can't wait to catch up with all of them!!!

Other than that nothing much has been going on around here. I am totally not looking forward to cleaning this weekend, but I have put it off long enough! I'm going to follow my friend Malone and throw away EVERYTHING we don't use anymore! There's just too much!! What's even more terrible is that we just had a yard sale and we STILL have junk I need to throw away!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH.....sometimes I just get so overwhelmed I don't know where to start. Okay enough with the rambling....I'm going to enjoy my Friday night and then get to work early tomorrow morning!! GOOO CANES!!!!!

Okay I know

It's been like a RREEAAALLLYYYY long time! Lo siento, I'm sorry! I've been busy. No, really I think I just forgot I had a blog. So I remembered today and that is why I'm writing today! Here's what's been going on with me:

WE GOT ANOTHER PUPPY!!! Yes, Chris found her and we had to get her! Her name is Molly and she is a beagle! She is so cute and her personality is totally different from Lucy's! She is definitely the more dominant puppy of the two! We are so happy to adopt her and we love her so much! Here she is:

She is so cute! Her and Lucy are totally bff's and it's the cutest thing ever! They like to rough house inside the house and that's a little annoying but I'm glad they love each other and want to play all the time! I will be updating you on them and what's going on with them a lot more! I promise!

Other than Molly I've just been working! I've applied to a program called NCTeach to get my teaching license! Hopefully I will hear from them this week! I want to teach Special Education and I'm so happy I finally know what I want to do! I'm very nervous but totally excited to see what happens with this part of my life!

Okay I have to go babysit now! I will try to post at least twice a week from now on! Hope you're having a great day and check on me again sometime soon!

She's getting so big......

Image

We can't believe how big she's getting!! She is three months old this month! It's crazy to think she's only been in the world for 3 months. I'm having a much easier time with her and leaving her in her crate during the day while Chris and I are work. I've been hooked on Cesar Milan's "The Dog Whisperer". I love that show!

We are still having some trouble in the potty training department, but I hear it might take her up to a year to that down. I really hope it's sooner than that! We have signed Lucy up for puppy training classes so hopefully that will help too!

This is what's going on right now with Luc! I will write more soon! PROMISE!!

WOW

So I really had NO IDEA how much responsibility comes with owning a dog. I'm totally overwhelmed right now! But, I think it's a good thing! I've been struggling with leaving her at home by herself. I feel so guilty when I'm out enjoying myself and she's not with me....I'm such a mom. I really do see how much responsibility it will be to have a child now. I seriously have been awakened. I'm not comparing the lives of dogs to children. What I mean is that I now see what kind of planning ahead and sacrifices you have to make now that you have this little bundle of joy in your life. I'm tracked out for two weeks, Lucy and I have bonding big time! I'm trying to stay away from the house a little during the day because I don't want her to think I will be home forever and always.

I just bought three books on Amazon about raising puppies! I can't wait to read them! I will be posing more pictures of Lucy soon...I need to take some pics off my hard drive before my computer dies.

Um....P.S., does anyone have any idea on where to find sombreros cheap? In Raleigh?
