School Days!

Wow...April--really?

Uh...OK.  **blush**

So, today was the first day of the new school year for G1 and G2.  G1 is now a lofty 7th grader in her second year of middle school and G2 started 1st grade--his first full day in elementary.

Naturally...I took pictures.  ;)

Her natural smile...caught her off guard before she could flash the plastic.  **sigh...teenagers**

G1's hair was a bit, um, fuzzy.  She is learning a cardinal rule about curly hair.  NEVER BRUSH.  Other than that she was pretty excited about getting to school--naturally.  That child LOVES school.  She has Band, World History, Pre-Algebra, Honors English, P.E. (she's not very happy about that one), and Biology.  Hopefully that will keep her busy this year.  Notice her t-shirt...it's her favorite.  ;)

 G2's "I know I'm cute" smile.  Such a flirt.

Can you tell he's nervous about starting school?  He'll do great, but there was just a bit of panic in his voice today when I dropped him off.  LOL  I had to remind him to not open the door while I was parking.  Almost left without a kiss too--I put an end to that quickly.  After all, he is still my little boy.  I promise I'll be more discreet...tomorrow.

I don't have any pictures of Moo as she doesn't start Pre-school until next week.  Lucky girl will get her own posting--yes, I will remember.  ;)  She was pretty unhappy this morning as her siblings all took off for the big fun world...without her, but she settled down a bit when she realized she had the complete attention of two parents.  LOL

Next week I will have three days a week to myself (in the morning)!  Hmmmmm...what ever shall I do?  ;)

New Doctor Who Episode...as told by G2

The Doctor and the Deadly Dalek

Photobucket

There goes the TARDIS--off on some adventure!

Photobucket

It's Scarf Guy (Tom Baker) and K-9 exploring by the TARDIS.

Photobucket

Oh no! The Doctor has been spotted by a Dalek!

Photobucket

The Dalek's beam hits the Doctor's scarf. That was a close one!

Photobucket

Dodging beams of death--the Doctor thinks he sees a hiding place.

Photobucket

He is able to hide just in time! Whew!

The Doctor and K-9 make fun of the Dalek before jumping in the TARDIS for another adventure.

Stay tuned for more thrilling adventures!

PI Day!

Don't forget to celebrate with pies!

March 14, 2011.

Interesting side note...March 14 is Albert Einstein's birthday.

What pies are you making?

Yeah yeah...

I'm working on it.

Autumn Fun.

Unfortunately this year we had bad weather and sick children that made our usual whirlwind of activities diminish a bit, but we still managed to get some fun in.

Here we are at the Giant Corn Maze (corn maze...corn maze...).

Note the relaxed happy faces and clean clothes.  LOL

Moo showing off her muddy hands and pants.  Gravity was extra strong with her that night.  ;)

And the family triumphant!  (note the strained smiles and muddied clothes)

Image

Word to the wise...it is best to go to corn mazes when the paths are still intact (ie:  NOT the last day they are open) and it hasn't been raining for days on end.  Heh heh...still trying to get the mud out of Moo's pants...

We had to skip Green Bluff this year, but we promised to go for the spring festival instead.

Since we weren't able to get our pumpkins in the usual manner (Green Bluff) we had to do some scrambling to find some!  We finally found three for the children, but D and I had to make do with something else...

Pumpkin night!

G1 went with a Egyptian theme (big surprise there...not), G2 and D worked on a piratey pattern, and Moo was just...Moo.

Did you see my and D's carving in that last photo?  In case you missed it--here they are!

Image

Yes...those would be orange peppers. :D Hey, you do what you have to do and they looked totally awesome when they were lit. My favorites are the two on the right side. Hee hee. Too bad we forgot that peppers cook...and burn. Oh well...they looked more halloweeny that way. ;)

And one more picture...this is Moo after the Trunk or Treat. She went as a field mouse (along with little bunny Foo Foo and the Good Fairy) and fell asleep with whiskers and chocolate face intact.

Life is sweet when you're three.

Golden Afternoon

We had a beautiful Autumn day this week...probably our last until next year.  So I kicked the children outside and followed with a camera in hand.

We don't have any trees on our lot, but our neighbors to our West do.  Lots of them.  With lots of big leaves.  We took advantage of this and had a fun time playing in the leaves and making leaf angels.  Don't worry--G2 raked it all up into a neat pile when we were done.
