I figured I would do this post for all those that want to know ALL the details about Hannah coming into the world...I always want to know the details....so this is for all of you who are just as curious as i am. ;o)
On Monday (apr 30) I went into the doctor in the afternoon totally determined that I was done being pregnant. Dr. Lovell checked me and I was 5cm dilated and 80% effaced. He stripped my membranes which was insanely painful! I asked him to schedule me to be induced Tues. morning in case that didn't work. So he did, but he told me that if I was having a bunch of contractions to just go into the hospital that night and he would break my water. Well... the last time he stripped my membranes when I was pregnant with Brayden, I didn't think it would do anything so I drove to Ucon to get my cheesecake from Rose...only to have to hurry back because the contractions were going crazy! Anyway... so I decided to hang around Rexburg for a while to see if anything was going to happen. I was getting bored so I went to the hospital to pre-register all my insurance info. and the lady asked if I was in labor. I said, "I don't know... maybe" She got me registered and then asked why I said that maybe I was in labor. I told her that I live in Ucon and I didn't want to leave Rexburg without being sure I wasn't in labor because I was already 5cm. She looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Don't leave!" lol. I said, well I think I'll go get some food and then come back. So I went and ate at McDonalds and called Dallas and told him to take the kids to Rose's and meet me at the hospital. When he got there we went in to see if they would admit me. I was only having a good contraction every 10min, so I thought they'd send me home. But, when they called Dr.Lovell he said to admit me and he would come break my water. At about 9:30pm he came and broke my water and I thought I would have to walk around to get the contractions going like I did with Tanner, but it was almost instant that the contractions picked up. (side note: I was REALLY hoping the I wouldn't have the baby until Tues. because April 30th is my brothers b-day) Well, the contractions just kept getting stronger and so I thought, well... this is going to be pretty fast so I can handle this without any medication. Ok... seriously the contractions were crazy! at 10:30 I had my nurse check me because they were getting so intense. I was at an 8 so she said I'll check you again at 11pm...she was frantically trying to get everything prepped for delivery and it freaked me out every time she left the room!! at about 10:45 I told her she better not leave me and should have someone else get Dr. Lovell to hurry up. A little after that they brought in Helene (one of Dr. Lovell's midwives) and I have to say I was SOOOO happy to see her!! The nurse had told me to keep waiting to push because I still had a little bit of the cervix left (I thought I was going to DIE) But Helene told me to just listen to my body and if I needed to push to just go ahead and push....oh bless her! ;o) It always feels better when you can actually push! Dr. Lovell walked in and actually delivered the baby. Thank goodness for my nurse who was awesome about coaching me through each push and reminding me to breathe!! Head came out fine...no tearing, but mind you she was a 10lb. baby!!! Her shoulders were even more difficult to deliver because she had her hand up by her face. When she did come out it was like super woman (arm straight out) riding out on a wave because there was a TON of water!! splashed all the nurses and Dr. Lovell...lol.;o) Dallas got major brownie points when it was all over... he kissed me on the forehead and told me I did amazing. Well, as Dallas puts it, she pretty much burst her way out and I had to have a TON of stitches. Thankfully it was only 2nd degree, but just a lot of tear. Despite that, my recovery has been pretty good! The tear hasn't bothered me much at all thankfully. So, she was born at 10:59pm weighing 9lbs 15.5oz (they round it up to 10lbs) and 21inches long!!! That first night Hannah spent in the NICU because she wasn't breathing great and she had low blood sugar that we couldn't get to come up. But after a few bottles of formula she perked up and got to come out of the NICU. She is a noisy baby! She grunts and makes a "squeaky door" sound all the time. But she's been sleeping good and eating good too. Now hopefully I can keep her safe from her 3 curious brothers! My mother in law has been here and I've mosly been sleeping. I'm so glad she came to help! Monday is my first day alone, so hopefully the boys will behave themselves! Anyway... there you have it. the WHOLE story ;o)
