Double Standard?

First off, Happy Joyous Deepavali to all my Hindu friends near and far. I'm excited for our first (and the only, perhaps?) Deepavali open house tomorrow after work.. makan makan makan!..

Anyway, I've a story to tell. Happened last night. The Hubby and I got so bored at home, so we drove around The Strand, Kota Damansara and decided to go karaoke-ing. The Hubby decided to call the place first for booking. Receptionist answered, and with her thick Chinese accent apologised to us, saying that it's fully booked.

And so we drove around again...movie? gah! boring... clubbing?...just not that happening with just us two. Balik?... so early??

While driving, The Hubby turned his head to me and said, " Wanna try our luck again on calling the karaoke centre?... Let me be a Mat Salleh this time."

"Imagined if they have a place for us. that'll be a real double standard, dont you think?"

The Hubby made that all.

I covered my giggles with both hands the whole conversation. The Hubby really sounded like an American from San Fran.

oooo.. what a night..

His Birthday gift(s)

It's The Hubby's bday tomorrow (Oct, 10th) and I've gotten him a new spot light cover for his Perdana last Friday. (his previous were too shady and old)

He installed it at a workshop straightaway and went back home grinning like a 6 year -old boy who had gotten a eat-all-you-can-in-a-candyshop coupon. My cheeks were wet from the THANK YOU smooches.

I've made a reservation and will be bringing him to Dirty Nelly's Bar and Restaurant next week for a treat. He's into porky and bacon(he whacked them, like a lot when we were in The States last year) so this will be the ultimate all-u-can-eat experience for him, don't you think? ehe.. and oh, free flow of Mojitos and margaritas, da yum!

will upload pics of us once we're there!

We celebrated his previous one in Club 21, Bangsar (10-10-2010)..

Nazam Lebaran

My lab did a Majlis Aidilfitri last Monday (Sept. 26,2011) and wee witt! , I was Siti Nurhaliza representing our department..(My boss was such a sport when she surprised the audience by joining us after the first chorus!)
We performed a hari Raya track, Nazam Lebaran. I was not nervous at all, which kind of came as a weird surprise since I've always have this stage fright. Maybe because I just wanted it to be over, combined the happy feeling of representing my dept.

Here's some pics of us for your viewing pleasure! eheeee...

my first time being a so-called make up artist.

Could it be from the shooting star?

Hello! :)

Remember my previous post about the shooting stars? It came true!! The Hubby and I had wished for our house purchase thing to be over done with and that we can finally move in. We've been waiting for frigging half a year! Not our fault.

(I know some thought I had wished for a baby, but somehow a house came first in mind)

Finallyyyyy.... how relieved!

But hell visited us both first. The rush of moving our stuff literally on our own, in less than one week, I'm telling you, I went berserk on the 5th day. I just couldn't handle the stress. My Myvi was the best transportation that week. Can you believe that I can put a 6-seat dinner table in it? yeah, and it's not the one that's fold-able. Of the trips back and forth from my in-laws house to our new crib? To think about it again, I dunno where The Hubby and I summoned all the strength. The Hubby had been so very patient with me throughout the time.
Sorted out everything, and finally the Internet line. Finally get to blog and read blogs again. Oh, how I've missed this! ( which explained my loooooooooong absence here)

Shooting Star

Image
I saw a shooting star while lepaking outside Sean's house last Sunday. The shoot was rather a slow travel yet it disappeared in a nick of time. Took me about 5 seconds to digest that it's actually a shooting star because I initially thought it was a firework.

And that was my 5th shooting star experience in my humble life. I remember being fascinated with it the first time I saw it 11 years ago. I was in Form 5 and gazing at the sky in wee late hour was kinda my thing. I remember what I had wished on that first time.

And that wish came true after a week! The senior I had my crush on responded saying that he always had an interest on me but was too shy to tell..

But oh well, of course no monkey love will ever last.

The second one landed me having my first kiss. It happened when I was in my Uni time. He became my first love, my first kiss.

The 3rd shooting stars happened in Uni time as well but the 4th one was the most significant of all. It was the biggest shooting star compared to the previous. It happened few weeks before I met The Hubby. I was deeply depressed with the relationship I had with the policeman ( i did mention him to you peeps, did i not?).. I remember crying while doing star- gazing alone that night when I suddenly saw it. With hands clasped tightly, I started wishing that I'd be out of the misery.

A stranger came into my life not long afterwards. (Combined too with the power of prayers I believe. I remember asking God so many times for signs.)

And now he's my life.

Sounded like I made it all up huh? Apparently, not.

I'll let you know if this 5th one will do its miracle like the previous 4 i've seen. Maybe yes, maybe no, only time will tell. But whatever it is, I never cling my future to this superstitious stuff. Yes, I trust too in wishing well. It helped me landed into my dream job twice. But that's a different story too. Ehe.

Let's share a story about wishful list, shall we? :)

Hi you :)

Sorry for my absence in this blogosphere. Been like what, a month?.. .I've been swarmed by workload! Pathetic, I must say. Ran here and there, that often at times I just wish one day is equals to 30 hours, not 24.

I'm physically and mentally tired, plus spiritually drenched. Even now while typing this, my mind is still wandering about work stuff, money and our future house. Everything feels like they're mashing up inside my brain...

And my mood just roll down the hill at each day, for no apparent reason. I need a real holiday, which sadly both The Hubby and I have to push aside. Gara2 barang rumah.

Cis! u The House! Kalau dah boleh masuk, takpa la jugak.. ni barang dalam bilik tido The Hubby and I makin padat since we've started to buy stuff for The House. So many things going on with both side of the lawyers, that we still haven't even masuk to the house for cleaning.

Sigh ...... How can I not be more depressed? I.AM.IN.SERIOUS.NEED.OF.BEACH. just BEACH.TAN.COLD BEER.N.HUBBY.

So many things going on, I just don't know where to start.

Life seems to float seamlessly....

Marwencol

Marwencol? What's that??

This is the title of the movie that I've watched last night with The Hubby last night. A genre of its own, and very entertaining. You can read about the synopsis of the movie here -> WIKIPEDIA( Marwencol)" .
Image

This movie is an independent documentary film that depicts the life of Mark Hogencamp. Watching this, I must say, is like watching a one-hour special documentary of someone in Bio Channel or National Geography. The reason why it's fascinating to me is because of his unique artwork and how he can be able to put his imaginary town into live, something that I dreamt of wanting to do when I was small. It was like playing SIM City or Facebook's Cityville but instead of virtual, you're setting up your own town at your own backyard. To add things up, he photographed the town, full with World War II dolls and small WWII trucks. It was like a combination of an avid enthusiastic WWII piece collection and macro photographers.

This movie has won more than 5 awards, and a 100% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes. The Hubby and I were quite sceptical to watch it at first ( especially because it was ME who found the movie, and The Hubby at often ain't that keen to watch what I suggested.. All lovey- dovey la. chic flick la..hahhahah.. not blaming him also), but we enjoyed the movie (or documentary) very much that he persisted me to blog about it. hehehe

Anyway, if you're hoping to watch about something like Small Soldiers movie or Toy Story movies, you will eject this movie from the DVD player after 5 minutes.. Give this movie a chance to prove why it has won so many awards, it will tell you why..

OK?

Sarawak Bloggers Talk

First off, a big THANK YOU to Sarawak Bloggers(SB) for inviting me to ~Sarawak Bloggers Talk: More than a blog~ which is going to be held on May 21st, 2011. It's going to be a very informative and interesting event (I'm sure of it) as they will have Alvin Leong who's going to teach on the art of photography. With this art, you can improve your blog page, and make money out of blogging! This making-money from blogging part will be lectured by some infamous blogger of SB admin team.. Mr. Willie and Mr. Cyril..
\
I haven't been very active in blogging , even though I was given a privilege to be Sarawak Blogger; Blogger of the Month in June 2010. Honestly, I'm kind of embarrassed because I don't think I have done much justice to the team, and to the SB team. For God's sake, I have not even blogged about my experience with NTV7, in which I was recommended by one of the SB admin! (Thousand apologies!). It's been over the month since the tv show aired, and I have not been able to find time to share with you guys the excitement feeling I had when I was at the shooting set.. I'm cruel, I know..

Back to the title, yerp. I'm really sorry I won't be able to attend this interesting gathering event, for one reason, I can't fly home this weekend. I have a 4-day meeting/ training in my workplace next week where the participants comprises of other Food Technologist from all around Malaysia. I will only be flying back to Kuching end of this month, for Gawai celebration.

Thank you again to Sarawak Bloggers team, for the invitation. If I were in Kuching on that date, I won't miss this chance for anything in the world. For a fee of only RM15, and you get to learn how to earn a side income with your monthly income by blogging, who doesn't want that right?

Rude Malaysian?

Customers always right? Or are we?....

I am not going to write about our right as a customer in purchasing, that you can figure things out. But what I am going to share here is about our manner.

Customers always right. Mmmm, yeah. However, does this means that it is okay to be rude to the other person of the opposite side? Is there any given right to say that it's okay to not acknowledge them just because we are paying for it?

I always believe in the power of being courteous to other people. No, I'm not saying that I'm such angelic, I don't get grumpy. How hard is it to say 'thank you' to the waiter that comes and help us clear our table? How hard is it to say "welcome" when the KFC guy give us thanks? Is it okay to buat muka bodoh after the waitress helped to open the door because she saw you struggling with a tray full with meals at the KFC restaurant?

This little stuff, most Malaysian take it for granted. I have to be honest, sometimes I do not see much of "Courteous Malaysians" here. I am not saying that all of us have the bad accused attitude, but majority does. I was in those majority group 3 years back (before I met The Hubby). Courteous for me, happened only when I'm with my family and fellow friends.

Anyway, back to my story. I do not get it when the tourists tell people that Malaysian are courteous. I was in US few months back, and boy I had a shock.

The people in the servicing line were way friendlier than us here. Everyone seem to enjoy their time at every store. And the fact that the cashiers would try to create a small conversation and greet us good night before we leave, it got me feeling that the gap between their business custom and us, are far apart. And same goes to the customers, they were all tolerant and respect each others space. Everyone is treated equally.

Whereas here? I can always feel someone's breathe at my neck almost everytime I queue up for anything. Come on! Stop being a kiasu already. No one is ever going to cut your line if you move back 2 steps.

Maybe.... fine. Maybe we are not ready yet to be too friendly to the cashier boy who's standing behind the counter taking our order. But why the frown? A little smile won't hurt. It doesn't matter if it's a 5 star restaurant or kedai runcit Ah Kau, so what if he won't smile back? What is there to do if he had 7 frowny customers before you. He deserves a little boost for the day, and that can come from you.

I know this entry is all fumbled with words. It's been a while since I last blog and I apologise. This coming weekday is going to be a very busy day for me and my colleagues as my lab is going to go through ISO audit. Wish us luck!

And oh! Start the "thank you" and give space to the person in front of you while queuing up for anything. Our comfort zone for Malaysian ( Data source from an ex- UN negotiator) is 3 feet. I want my own zone.

Movies for Labour Day Weekend

Been a while!!!!

Anyway, if you're looking for some nice movies to watch during this long Labour Day weekend, I recommend you;
1. Dilemma, starring Vince Vaugh
2. The Next Three Day, starring Russell Crowe
Image

'Dilemma' movie is about how a guy can really care about his best buddy that he will do just about anything to his bestfriend, even if it means that he has to hide about the truth that he saw his bestfriend's wife cheating on her husband. But the fact
that it actually eats him up inside that makes the story worth the watch.. I won't be a spoil here, you just have to watch it yourself. Mind you, it's not really a comedy movie but there's some scenes that's hillarious. Somehow, I can imagine being on his shoe, to have to protect your friend's feeling but at the same you just feel helpless. I'd say 3.4/5 star.

Speaking of helpless, that's the main key of the second movie that I had mentioned above. The Next Three Day is about how a man would do anything, just anything, to get his wife the life that she had lost when she was accused of murdering her own boss. The movie becomes more interesting when he went all out by trying to kidnap her out from the county jail. Man, you guys really must watch this movie. And it's Russell Crowe we're talking about here. Remember American Gangster and Gladiator? I'm giving this movie a 4.0/5 star!
Image
Ok! Let me know what you think of those movies if you have watched them previously or this weekend (perhaps). Would love to know your review about it!

Till then!!

Say Hello, you all!

Remember when I requested dearest you all my blog readers to pray that The Hubby and I can get our own house? (man, that sentence was so long winded of me, kan? LOL).
Well.....

Tadaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Introducing our future HOME SWEET HOME...
ImageImage
Think I can have white picket fences here...

This place is 5 minutes drive to Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara where The Hubby work, and approximately 15 minutes drive to to my workplace.. Plus Giant Hypermarket, Carrefour even The Curve is a small distance away.

Our loan have been approved and we've paid our deposit. Am now waiting for the owner to do some touch ups on the house. The best thing is, even though we're buying the house from an owner, no one has ever stayed there before, and thus everything including the walls are free of unnecessary damages and scribbles. The apartment area is only few years old. Oh by the way, gotten ourselves the layout that we've always wanted. Apartment that comes with balcony and a little bit of land for us to have a small "leisure sitdown park" of ours.

The house is not that big, just nice for us and maybe a kid or two (hopefully soon). But the price, mak aih! Sad thing here in Klang Valley, we're paying the location. What to do, The Hubby tak nak duduk jauh and has to pay toll everyday. One good thing though, this area has a very high market value due to its convenience sake. I hope it's a good investment.

Thanks to all for the pray wishes. Yerp! I can tick off one more list of "Things to do before I turn 30".

Missing-In-Action

I took a day off today because my body just can't take it anymore. The workload, OMG, yes, I going to complain about it in a while. And my brain, everything is too much for it to process.

Listen, I'm seriously going to smack those who say, " ala, kerja government tak la stress sangat. Lepak bluesss."say that again, and I. AM. GOING. TO. SMACK. YOU. Because my job? It's physically and mentally exhausting.

I do not know if I had ever told you that I am currently working at national lab, but yea, I am now in a Nutrient Unit. My job? Do you notice the nutrition fact that is attached at the food package or wrappers? yeah, my job is to analyse food sample taken and compare it with the nutrition fact at the wrapper. There's only 3 of us in that lab doing the analysis( which one is waiting for her due date to beranak) and do you know how many samples do we get in a month?.. more than 200! We have to do the food extraction then integrate the data. We can't afford to mess things up because this data result can drag a company to court.

Added to this, I force myself to get involve with sports activity, in support of The Hubby. It's my resolution that he loses more than 10kg this year, and I make sure he's up to a physical activity every after job. He'll tag me along because he said it's more fun with me. I can't say no because he'll be no semangat to do sports. Compare me before I got married and now, I can play badminton, ping pong, tennis (yerp! didn't expect I can pick up this game) and swimming (ah yes! I can't even float myself 8 months ago). Soon, I might pick up squash too.. But all thanks to my ever-patient coach, The Hubby.

Now you know why I am rarely in blogsphere. Why I haven't been able to even post anything about my LA trip, after piling up the excitement of going abroad. I'm just tired..balik kerja, sports, tired... Sigh.

Today I just had enough. TIRED! I texted my superior early in the morning, telling her that I'm taking emergency leave. And it is indeed a leave much needed. For once after 3 months, I've been able to do some serious blog reading. Rested like there's no tomorrow.

Phewwwwww.....

p/s: Do pray that The Hubby and I will get our dream house k?.... we're gonna know the result end of this week.

Los Angeles baby! ( Part 1... and many more parts to go...)

Geez, now only I'm writing about my US trip.. after a month!! i won't be giving any excuses on this, because anything that I had in mind will sound so lame.. let's put it in a way simpler word. PEMALAS.

But, hey.... Who can ever forget that kind of experience, especially for someone like me who have never been abroad in her 27 years of life??( Krabi tidak perlu cerita la. That one is too near to even consider going out of Malaysia). Never in my mind had I thought of ever stepping foot in USA. Honestly? Never! Until 2 years ago when The Hubby( back then) invited me to come holidaying with him in Miami and Los Angeles, for a family reunion. But my Papa, being a protect, objected my request. In a way it's a blessing in disguise, because The Hubby, his sister,L and I agreed that I won't be enjoying much of the trip
, as the group was huge! L said she had
to make 3 trips from her house to Santa Monica Pier or other near store located nearby just to drop The Hubby and his entourage.

Ok! Back to my story..... * Party in the USAAAAAAA*
Image
The Hubby and I started our serious packing the night before we left. Thank God each of us were given by the China Southern Airlines 42kg per person for our bags. Phew!.. we had to bring lots of Christmas gifts from The Hubby's family to my sister in law and her husband. Plus their stuff which they couldn't bring together with them during their Malaysia trip 6 months ago. Our bedroom was like a war of the Bags!!...Both us kept reminding ourselves not to bring any liquid items of more than 100ml in our cabin luggage, knowing it'll be confiscated
, thus be a waste.
Image

Best thing was?.... I brought "Katrina"a.k.a my bantal bucuk, companion since I was 4 years old with me!! Boy was she excited! hehehhee..

December 22,2010....

On the next day, both us left the house at 12 noon, after saying goodbye to Mom. She cried a bit when hugging The Hubby, knowing that he won't be celebrating Christmas with her for the first time and being a mom, she's just being her. The Hubby's sister sent us both to KLIA and we had our last 2010 Malaysia lunch at McD, KLIA... Boarded the Airbus at 2pm and we left to Guangzhou 20 minutes afterward.

Guangzhou was cold, you all!!! I didn't know I had to start using my trench coat straight away when going down the stairways of the plane... Crazy weather!.. Our transit was 3 hours, so we killed our time by playing the iPod la, mp5 la, observing people. The "Guangzhao Asia Games 2010" banners were all over the place, since the game were over few months ago..
Image
Look at the ice at the window pane.. bbbrrrrr..

Image

One thing I gotta say about this airline we boarded to LAX, it sucks!!! The service suck (muka flight attendants, macam sial!.. and sooooo tak peramah okay!), the seats suck, the inflight screen monitor suck...the only good thing about this airline is that it's super punctual. No delay, nothing. If they promise you the flight will take off the runways at 9pm, the plane will be in the air at 9.01pm.

We reached LAX on December 22, 2010 at 6.30pm local time ( Malaysia time: 10am December 23rd).. So many ang moh! and the Latins!... Their airport and customs guard are besar2 and muka garang.. eee...felt so small suddenly..

Both The Hubby and I were stopped by a 6' 5" custom officer before going out the arrival hall. He asked us about the deal with big 4 bags when there's only just the two of us. " It's Christmas, Sir. And I'm bringing all the goodies from home to my sister who's a PR here"... He nodded and let us go.

u'oh.. The Hubby is bringing me out for a yamcha at kedai Cina in KD.. i'll continue soon! :)

Selamat Tahun Baru 2011

Image
Whoah... It's exactly 2 weeks after the new year, and it's only now that I'm greeting you guys a Happy New Year wish? tsk tsk tsk.. Sorry.

Anyway, it's better late than never. To everyone, a very Happy New Year 2011. So, what's your resolution for this year?.. I have a few, but i'll get back to that in some other time.

Oh ya, my LA trip. The Hubby and I had just got back from our 3 weeks trip merely 27 hours ago, and errrmmmm... I am actually still fumbling with words to describe my honeymoon in The States, so please bear with me for a while aite?...

Will blog about it real soon.. Adieu!
