Late this afternoon, Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance temporarily paused operations after receiving a threatening phone call. Similar calls have been reported at zoos across the country in recent weeks, with no related incidents or harm reported.
Per our security protocols, we worked in close coordination with the Denver Police Department, who conducted an investigation of the campus. The Zoo was determined to be safe for continued operations.
Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance is open this evening for Glowing Wild. We understand some guests may still have concerns, and anyone requesting a refund or reschedule for Glowing Wild tickets may contact us, and we will work with them on available options.
The Zoo will also be open tomorrow (Monday, May 4) at regularly scheduled business hours, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The safety of our guests, staff, volunteers, and animals remains our top priority, and we appreciate our community’s understanding.

April 28 was #SaveTheFrogsDay! 🐸
Dr. Jimmy Johnson, Senior Director of Wildlife Health and Conservation, and Brian Aucone, Chief Conservation Officer, were recently on the ground in Peru working alongside our Latin America conservation partners to monitor two of the world`s most endangered frog species: the Lake Titicaca water frog and the Lake Junín frog.
These aren`t just any frogs. The Lake Titicaca water frog exists nowhere else on Earth, and DZCA has been partnering with local communities and governments to protect them since 2012. Come see these remarkable fully aquatic frogs up close in Tropical Discovery! 🐸
This is a great reminder that saving wildlife takes boots on the ground, dedicated partners, and people who care. Thank you for being part of saving these species.
