She's ONE!

Happy Birthday Little Bug! I love this girl so much. She's awesome. The end.

Actual birthday pictures to come... I still need to get the pictures off the camera and convert them (and I'm lazy).  So in the mean time please enjoy some random yet recent pictures of the birthday girl.

Happy Holidays!

So that was a little bit of a "What I'm Thankful For" fail. Considering I hadn't posted anything in months, I'm not sure what made me think I could post every single day of November. I had good intentions. Moving on.

We went to Disneyland! It was so much fun. We were exhausted by the end of the trip, but it was worth it. We went with my family to celebrate my brother's 12th birthday. It was T's first trip (obviously... she's a baby) and she had a blast. She won't remember it, but we will. While we were there we met up with Kim and Nick for a day and also took Elder Alworth out to lunch (he's Doxey's cousin who is serving an LDS mission in the Arcadia area). I think my favorite memory from the trip was T getting so excited on "it's a small world" that she fell asleep as soon as we exited the tunnel. Seriously. I looked over at her sitting in Doxey's arms just in time to see her close her eyes and lay her head down. She was out cold! Here's the proof:

In other news, Doxey had surgery on his shoulder last week. After the surgery the doctor told us that the tear was worse than he originally thought (good thing we decided to go ahead with the surgery!) Things went well though and Dox is recovering. He is feeling pretty good most of the time, so that's a huge blessing. We were told he has to be in a sling for six weeks. Crappy. The follow up appointment is Thursday, so hopefully we'll find out more. I have definitely had my hands full taking care of a one-armed husband and an 11 month old girl. An 11 month old girl who gets into everything and has decided that this was finally the week that she would start teething for real (or so we think).
*Tangent alert! She's 11 months and has no teeth. Is that normal? She's getting really good at gumming her food though. Today she downed a quesadilla from Cafe Rio no problem.*

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2012! (Maybe next year I'll actually send out Christmas cards. If you send me your address you can find out if I do!)

A Month of Thankful

Since that wonderful holiday full of food and thanks is this month, I thought it would be fun to post what I'm grateful for each day. Then I forgot to write said posts. I guess I'll just have to do 3 in 1 today!

1st - Apples. Well, applesauce. More specifically, the applesauce that Lindsay and I made ourselves and canned. It's pretty fun and fulfilling to be able to make healthy food for your family and friends. I'm officially a fan. Plus, the babe would gobble up applesauce by the jar if we let her!

2nd - These two. I love them more than I can say.

And just for fun here are a few more of the little one...

3rd - My iPhone. Without it I would not have those adorable pictures.

Why J-Biebs Why?

Image
Due to my job, I am constantly reading and surfing the web.  Even though I stay away from that trending news, at times I find myself getting sucked into reading the tabloid articles about celebrity life and the drama of being famous. I have read a few things about Justin Andrew Bieber and have unfollowed 1,000's of bielbers on twitter. I have to admit, the kid has talent when it comes to music.  He seems like a decent guy so I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he wouldn't turn into a raging attention wanting monster.  But this latest scandal that has rocked the tweenager world to the core and it might ruin it for J-Biebs.

He might be a baby daddy.

Before you lose your mind and start trying to wear your computer monitor as a hat here are the facts.  First, it all started in L.A., also know as "City Of Babymakers," when J-Biebs had a rockin show going and had "Baby" repeating over and over in his head so he decided to act.  The unsuspecting victim to his malicious plan was a 19-year-old girl, Mariah Yeater, plucked from the crowd after the show. I know exactly what you are thinking, why is a 19 year old out on the town without a chaperone?  I am pretty sure it is because J-Biebs whipped his perfectly coiffed bangs and knocked the chaperone into some dark closet so he could prey upon this unsuspecting older woman. Once the victim was, um, victimized, J-Biebs was whisked off to his next show and the girl nothing but a pregnant J-Biebs fan. Nine months later, Lil' J-Biebs Jr. was out and about playing Didgeridoo, Conch, and Trombone all at the same time.  Mariah Yeater started Jr. with the brass instruments because of the wonderful experiences she had being in her church marching band.

Of course the legal team for Justin Bieber Senior has said there is no basis for the allegations and they will pursue protecting Justin Andrew "J-Biebs" Bieber Sr and his name.  After I did more research, I found it is actually against the law to have sexual relations with any person under the age of 18 in the state of California.

Mariah, besides proving that you are 99.9% crazy, you probably will end up in jail if it is true. We can only hope that someone out in the intrawebs will notice the talented J-Biebs Jr. on YouTube and get him his chance to change the world. Never Say Never!

All Hallows Eve To Remember

This Halloween season seems like it has flown by.  October has been an insanely busy month for the Doxey household.  At work I have had a couple major projects that I have been finishing up.  Ash has been Mrs. creative and decided to make our costumes this year.  And the youngest Doxey has had enough of sitting around and wants to be pulling up, standing, or practicing walking.

My favorite highlight of the season was being in charge of the Broadbent family spook alley. My Cousin, Aunt, and I put our heads together and came up with a plan. We decided to do a zombie theme and each of us would be trapped inside my grandpas barn. We designed a maze so no one could see what was around the next corner and added strobe lights, a fog machine, and music to set the environment. The results were priceless! We made people cry, tons of screaming, and I got punched in the nose.  I had a blast and I hope we didn't cause too many nightmares. I just followed my moms awesome legacy of scaring people senseless.

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays of the year.  It is awesome that for a day you can pretend to be anything you want and won't get made fun of for it. Also my family goes a bit over board with making sure it is a time to remember.  My mom puts together an amazing dinner and show off our costumes before hitting the streets to get some CANDY.  That is the whole reason we have this holiday isn't it? Well, I hope everyone has a good all hallows eve and make sure to be safe.

P.S. on another note, when my daughter came through she laughed and instantly recognized me.  I think we have another Halloween lover on our hands.

Opening My Eyes

In my high school days I messed up my shoulder playing football.  At the time they told me it was my rotator cuff and I needed to do physical therapy to get it healthy again.  I went and did my time and got my shoulder strong enough so I could play football again.

In the last 2-3 months I have steadily having more and more pain in my shoulder and couldn't figure out why.  I went to my family doctor and he found that there was something going on with my shoulder again.  He put me on a medication treatment that lasted seven days that included exercises and heating/icing.  I did the treatment and the pain was still there burning in my shoulder. The next step was to get a MRI done to find what exactly was going on inside my shoulder. The results show a tear in my glenoid labrum which is leaking fluid out of my shoulder joint which is causing a cyst. The tear has caused the ligament to start folding back from where it was attached causing the tendons around it to also become inflamed. I went to a Orthopedic doctor and my options are either I manage the pain until I can't anymore or get surgery to fix the tear.  I asked him if there was any way it could heal with time or physical therapy and he said it wouldn't because of how the tear was.

Many of you don't know me but my family and I have not had the best experiences with the medical field.  Because of this I am very very very hesitant to do surgery because once it happens there isn't any going back. I feel like I have been weight both the options and both Ashley and I have talked it about it in great length on what I should do. Right now the plan is to move forward and schedule surgery, if anytime before something doesn't feel right cancel it. I am open to opinions, recommendations, experiences, or advise if you have any for me.  I want to make sure I go into this situation with my eyes wide open.

Sleep

I feel like any minute now my body is going to revolt against my brain and shutdown.  I have not slept very well the last couple of days and my body hates me for it.  Now I have to do my daily free write and it might overload my motherboard and I will be toast.  To prevent my body and brain from going completely into emergency mode I decided to write a Haiku about sleep.

I'm very tired
No sleep makes Devin grumpy
Naptime anyone?

I hope that touch you all to your very souls.  Sleep is important and I will get some tonight!
