Transporter 3

ImageSo, Shane got some tickets to a premiere showing of Transporter 3 the other night and invited us to go along. I'd seen the 2nd one and I'd heard that the first one was good so I thought "Hey, why not." We ended up getting to the theater late and they weren't letting anyone in because it was "sold out." We nominated Doxey to be the spokesman of our little group and he told a manager what had happened (we drove all the way up from Utah county in rush hour traffic, blah blah... you get the idea) and asked if there was anything we could do. The manager then came back with the rep from Lionsgate. He was very nice, but gave us the same story (no seats, we can't let anyone in after it's started...) Then he said that he would talk to someone and see what he could do and ultimately let us go in as long as we promised not to record the movie (Oh no! My plan was foiled.)

As for the movie itself, it had some unrealistic, but pretty cool action scenes (which is what the Transporter movies are really all about). The only real problem I had with it was the girl! I just wanted him to punch her. It was fun if you're in the mood for a ridiculously outrageous action movie. But personally, I could have done without the redheaded Ukrainian. Just make sure she doesn't take your keys!

The rest of October

I need to do some catching up...

So one day I get a call from Doxey asking if we had any plans for the following night because his work was giving him tickets to the Jazz game. So then I find out that his manager asked if he wanted to be the "Honorary Coach" for the game. It sounded good until I realized I'd have to sit by myself. Luckily, Shane was nice enough to be my date for the night. Doxey got to sit behind the players and we got dinner before the game started and snacks at half-time.

There he is, just chillin' behind the team.

ImageThis was after the game. The arena clears out pretty fast... or we were just sitting there for a while. One of the two.

Ok, now on to Halloween... That's right, we dressed up. It's Halloween, how can you not dress up?

Halloween Day - CareBear. More specifically, Bedtime Bear.

I think most of the people in my department dressed up.
That's because we're just that cool.

Halloween Night - Scouts!

(Actually, this picture was at the Broadbent family party which was the Monday before) That night, we had a fun Halloween dinner at Jon and Becky's, complete with "bones" and "blood and guts," aka bread sticks and lasagna. After dinner we took the nieces and nephews trick or treating. Of course, we couldn't stop there. The night was only beginning for us wild and crazy kids. That's right... we went to a party that our friends were having at their house.

Ok, I admit it. Maybe we're not that wild or crazy, but it was fun to see Marie, Jana, and Sarah. And David with his bullet hole and bloody shirt.

Last year we were Pebbles and Bam Bam. I wonder what next year holds?

St George

Last weekend we went down to St George for Kisa and Cameron's wedding. It was a lot of fun to see and "meet" family (some of my mom's cousins were there with their kids who I hadn't seen since I was 5). I got to visit with my grandparents and Doxey was able to meet more of my family. Plus we scored some In'N'Out before we left, so I would say that it was a successful trip.

ImageKisa and Cameron coming out of the temple. Isn't she gorgeous? The photographer made us act excited (clapping and all) but wanted us to look natural. Uhh, yeah... that's what we said.

ImageRight before Doxey and I left he took a couple pictures of Poppa, me, and Gramma.

ImageThe weather was crazy on the drive home. It was cold and windy in St George which caused a little trouble with my skirt, but everything worked out in the end. Then as we headed north we would drive through snowy/hail patches and then it would be sunny again, then we would go through a part with snow covering the ground. It's kind of hard to see in this picture, but it was hailing so hard it would bounce (pretty high) off the hood of the car.

ImageI took this picture a little bit before we switched spots and I got to drive the rest of the way home. You'd be surprised how fast 3 1/2 hours in a car goes by when you have the right music on!

Labor Day Weekend and a Brand New Semester

On Saturday we went to a Brazilian Festival that was at The Gateway. It was a lot of fun to listen to the music and watch all of the little kids play in the fountain (it was pretty hot.) Which is pretty funny since the rest of the weekend was FREEZING!! We were planning on going up to the Soldier Hollow Sheepdog Competition but when we were about to leave it was pouring and it started to hail. We were afraid that it would be even worse up there so everyone decided to take the kids to Kangaroo Zoo. They had a lot of fun.

Image I started school today. I think I'm going to enjoy the phonetics class that I had today, but it'll probably be a lot of work. I have a feeling that's how the whole semester will be. Interesting, but hard work. We'll see how the rest of classes go tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Bouncing Baby Blog

We would love to announce the newest addition to our family - our blog! I find myself reading my friends blogs and love seeing what they're up to. So, I decided that maybe I'd give it a try. I can't believe how quickly the summer has gone. Here's ours in a nutshell:

JUNE

One weekend Jon & Becky, Brock & Amber, Brandon & Lindsay, and Doxey & I stayed in Salt Lake and played for Becky's birthday (we couldn't get together in May, so this was the next best thing). We ate good food and played Rock Band and Ticket to Ride.

JULY

HAWAII! We realized that we hadn't really planned anything for the summer, so we started looking at flights and we ended up taking a trip to Hawaii over the 4th. It was so fun! Mark and Debbie were nice enough to let us stay with them, so not only did we get to go see and do amazing things, we got to visit family.

This is the view from Mark and Debbie's back patio. We could see turtles swimming around and one time we even saw a manta ray.

The USS Arizona Memorial was amazing. It didn't really hit until we were all standing there in silence looking at a wall covered in names. It was an unforgetable experience.

ImageImageImage
While we were there we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Most of the locals called it the PCC. We quickly found out that if you call it the PCC after you've come home, people just make fun of you... So the Polynesian Cultural Center it is!

ImageImageImage
We also went to a bunch of different beaches, the Dole planation, Waikiki, North Shore, snorkeling (my first time!), shopping... we did a bunch of stuff. Doxey even attempted surfing (I think it'll go better next time if we find a beach that has less reef - ouch!) We had a blast, then finally after some car problems (and a missed flight) we made it back.

Image Also in July, my family came out to visit over the week of Doxey's birthday. It was so much fun to see them. This is from the Bees game we went to one night. (I only took a couple pics while they were here, Mom's supposed to send me more)

AUGUST

Broadbent family party - and that's with over 20 people missing!

Image

We also saw Brian Regan at Thanksgiving Point. Kermit Apio opened for him. I'd never heard him before, but I thought he was really funny. We even saw some friends there. We were finally able to see little baby Dastrup! I also saw Reed Olsen, but he left before I could go say hi... sad. Oh, and just in case you're wondering, it's not the smartest idea to laugh a lot outside at night when you're sick. It doesn't help you get better.

Today we were able to go to the Manti Temple with our friend Jake and his fiance Jill so they both could receive their endowments. It was great to see how happy they are. They're getting married on Wednesday and we're so happy for them.

Well, that's our summer... in a nutshell.
