Better News

Bella woke up doing much better. We think she is finally starting to turn around. Her fever only reached 103 in the night and it was almost completely gone this morning. The urologist said they are still waiting on the sensitivities in her urine to show what antibiotic will best treat her, but until then they are going to continue to give her two very strong ones through IV. Her white blood cell count was down a bit which is really good. Her inflammation was the exact same score as yesterday (they like it to be half of what it was 24 hours prior) but the doctor still thinks it is good that it at least has stopped climbing. They said if she keeps doing better we may be able to come home Monday morning. She will have to continue being monitored and taking strong oral antibiotics for 14 days. Thanks again for all the love and support!! I will try to update later today.

Bella Update

Image
I apologize for not posting anything sooner about Bella and her condition. I haven't been very connected the last few days for obvious reasons. Bella was admitted to the ER at Primary Children's thurday morning. We had taken her into Timpanogas ER late last Saturday night where they diagnosed her with a kidney infection and sent us home with oral antibiotics. Wednesday evening we received the urine culture back which is when it turned very serious. Instead of it just being a typical bacteria, (E. coli or staph) we found out that it was pseudomonas. This is very rare in healthy people, especially children and it is very hard to treat because it is resistant to most antibiotics.
When we arrived here on Thursday morning, she was in very bad shape. They told us that her body was going into shock and they started treating her very aggressively. After they got fluid in her, they started her on some very strong IV antibiotics. We spent most of the day in the ER where they monitored her vitals very closely. That evening, they felt she was stable enough to move to the Children's Medical Unit. She started doing quite it bit better but then had a really rough night. They couldn't get her fever below 106 in spite of being on strong motrin and tylenol through her IV. She was shaking uncontrollably and vomiting. When they tested her blood that morning, it showed over twice the inflammation/infection than was present when we arrived, which was the exact opposite of what they had hoped after being on the antibiotics.

Right now the biggest concerns are that they can find antibiotics that will work and that it hasn't and doesn't spread to her bloodstream and other organs. We are hoping that by tomorrow we will know both of those things, but until then there isn't much more we can do.

We just can't thank our family, friends, and coworkers enough right now. My family has taken turns with Ava so that Devin and I could both be by her side this entire time. My parents have been here the majority of the time during visiting hours for support and her room was packed with visitors and gifts tonight. Lastly, thank you for all the prayers and fasting for our little girl. We know they are being heard and if anyone has faith it is our little Bella. I will try to be better about updating this.

Fall Fun

We have had a lot going on and a ton to blog about the last several weeks, but I have been a total slacker about blogging. We have been so blessed with such a good baby. Ava is growing so much so fast. She is now constantly smiling and just has the most pleasant personality. Bella has been such a good big sister, actually she claims to be "The Best Big Sister in the Whole Wide World!" Halloween was so much fun. I am just getting so excited that Christmas is just around the corner. I think Bella is going to love it. I have just included some pictures from the past month and a half...

We blessed Ava while Annette and her family were here, on October 12th. It was a great day and we had so much support from our Family & Friends! Thanks to all of you who came.

Ava started smiling at 4 1/2 weeks! By six weeks she was smiling constantly. She is such a good baby!

ImageBella had a BLAST with all of her cousins at the Morgan Family Halloween Party! They played lots of fun games and got some great prizes and candy.Image"Tinkerbella" on Halloween. Her face is all red because she had a bad cold all week and was getting a rash! Poor thing.

Ava was a kitty for Halloween. Her costume is so cute. ImageWe are nerds. I guess we were Mexican Wrestlers for our Halloween Parties. And of course we are too cheap to ever buy our own costumes so we borrowed from Crystal and Taylor!

Ava Sophia Morgan is finally here!!

Ava was born on September 20, 2008 at 10:33 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs 2 oz and was 19.5 inches. They induced me at about 8:00 that morning and my labor could not have gone better. It was so easy (thanks to the epidural) and the nurse said it was the fastest she has ever seen. I think I pushed for about a minute and a half total! Ava is such a doll! We love her so much already. Bella loves her little sister and is so sweet with her. We just feel so blessed to finally have our healthy baby girl here to cuddle.

Summer Projects: Before/After

So my husband is the greatest ever! We built our home in Eagle Mountain just two years ago this summer, and I already decided that I wanted to redo a lot of the flooring and all of the cabinets. (In my defense, we didn't upgrade these very much because I knew that if we stayed more than a couple of years I would want to update them anyways.)

Devin has been so awesome and worked so hard all summer doing projects from my many lists. He is getting to be quite a pro, especially at laminate. Devin pretty much did all of the laminate himself in our kitchen, family room, entry, and 2 1/2 baths. We also refinished all of our cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms white. We all pitched in with this, but a special thanks to my mom who painted the majority of the frames and my dad who sprayed all of the doors and drawers like a pro! I love the new look. Now I just really need to start decorating. Anyways, here is a look at some of the before and after pictures that I took.

My Girls Weekend

A couple weekends ago, I was lucky enough to go with my best friends from high school to Park City. We shopped a ton at the Outlets (I got some way cute stuff for the new baby) and we stayed in a hotel overnight for a sleepover (although we didn't sleep much). It was so fun to reminisce and laugh about the good old days as well as keep updated on all our current lives. It is so hard for me to ever leave Bella, but I think that her and Daddy had some much needed quality alone time. I am just so lucky to have such amazing friends. I truly think that we will all stay close forever. And P.S. I am HUGE in all these pictures!
