Wow, looking back at my last post and seeing that it was about Gavin's birth, I realized this post is long overdue. Gavin will be turning 2 years old in just a week. That little guy, born with thick, beautiful auburn hair and such a quiet demeanor has changed so much in two years. He is now a very outgoing and a bit sneaky. I have noticed a major difference between Porter and Gavin just in the first 6 months. Porter has always been a pleaser. He loves to do good and make others happy. Gavin loves to do good as well but he tends to enjoy pushing the limits to see what will happen...(walking away and not looking back to see if we are following..so dangerous little man!, dumping his water bottles, cups filled with liquid on the carpet--JUST for a reaction, dumping his plate or bowl of food on the floor when he is done...the list goes on. He definitely keeps us on our toes.
He absolutely adores his brother Porter though. Everything Porter does, wears, likes....Gavin does, wears and likes. He also enjoys antagonizing Porter though. For the most part, these two boys get along very well and LOVE playing together.
For the past 4 months or so, Gavin won't let Deven or I help him walk down the stairs outside our apartment. He wants to be independent in this task..and many others. He also loves walks, bike rides in mom's bike trailer (and Porter's bike), wrestling with Porter and Daddy, getting a treat when we go to pick up daddy from school/Reece's pieces, blocks, coloring, play dough, wearing Porter's spiderman shirts and shoes, putting on his hat and shoes in the morning when Deven is about to leave for school, racing the hallways with Porter, getting into/starting the dishwasher, sitting in the 'big' chairs for meals....list goes on. I love my curious and mischievous little Gavin. He brings SO much joy to our family and I am excited to watch him grow and learn alongside his siblings. He is such a sweet snuggler--always requesting to hold my hand when I put him down in his crib to sleep.
Porter--
Porter has just turned 4. He is a joy to have around and a big helper to mommy and daddy. In the past few months, he has really been getting into drawing (with pens), and most of his drawings tend to be a machine of some sort or WALLE. He has quite a talent with drawing and I really hope he continues to find interest in it. I love seeing his excitement as he explains to me what his new 'machine' does. A lot of his machines have to do with Lava or some sort of heat mechanism that melts the ice in his drawings. He is VERY smart and very sweet. He always wants to share his treats and toys.
Porter has been really excited about Spiderman things lately. He has shoes, shirts, pajamas, toys, a jacket etc, all decked in Spiderman. He has also been really into puzzles--this phase I am especially enjoying because I have truly missed doing puzzles. We will do about 3-4 a day 6 days a week. He can put 50 piece puzzles together all by himself! Porter knows all of his uppercase letters and most of the lower case. Right now we are working on letter sounds--he knows most of these as well. We are also trying to work on sounding out the letters in words and putting them together...I know that once he learns to read words, he will jump right into reading books. He loves building a 'car wash' with his foam blocks and swimming in the pool. I am really looking forward to this Summer living in Boise and hopefully I can get him into swimming lessons and soccer. During the winter, he would wheeze a lot more often and especially so when he was sick, I'm hoping this doesn't get worse with sports in the summer time. We have pulled out his inhaler quite a few times this winter.
Porter really enjoys teaching Gavin new things, making his bed, wrestling with daddy, riding his bike, going to parks with friends, playing chase with friends, watching WALLE, Bolt, Planes and Despicable Me 2, making mommy, daddy and Gavin smile and laugh, racing his 'car' up and down the hallway, going to the Discovery Science Center in Pullman, finding bugs and so much more. I love waking up to such sweet, loving boys. The three guys in my life are true treasures and I have been so blessed simply knowing them.
We are expecting our 3rd baby in May-5 weeks!! We are expecting little Aspen Grace on May 6th. Gavin LOVES kissing, rubbing and snuggling my belly--these two already have a strong connection. ;) Porter and Gavin are going to make such great big brothers to their little sister. We have slowly been collecting clothing for our little girl--trying to go second hand bc of costs. Deven will start his finals two days after Aspen is born, we will be moving 3 weeks after she is born so I have already started on packing.
Aspen was measuring a centimeter smaller this past OB visit...so, we get to see her this Tuesday! Another ultrasound that is:) I'm excited to see how much she's grown :)
As seen in this post, Deven started Law School at U of I two years ago. He will be finishing his 3rd year and graduating in Boise this next semester. It's been pretty tiring on him...there is much more reading than I could have ever imagined that goes into Law School. Deven has been home every night for dinner though and makes sure to spend time with the family each evening. He is such a good daddy to the boys and a wonderful husband. In the past two years, I have learned so much more about him...he can cook a large variety of oriental foods, he can man a sewing machine;)...he patched up some of his jeans and my jacket, he can build pretty much anything he puts his mind to, he too can lose his keys, wallet, and cell phone--just put him in Law School. Poor guy:/ I love this man SO much and I am grateful for all of the sacrifices he has made for our family.
Little update on me--I graduated from BYU-I with my Bachelors Degree last July--finally!! My older sister and I were able to walk/graduate together...ironically, it was the same day our little sister left for Guatemala on her mission.
*sorry for such a rushed post! It's been two years so I have been trying to update quickly--it's also past my bedtime and I am tired.:)
More to come in the next month!
