Grandma and Grandpa Kirk treated the family to another fun week at Reid Ranch. It's such a beautiful place, and so fun to stay together in a cabin with no clean up or cooking! It was a week full of so many great memories.
Here is most of of ready to ride some horses and ponies.
Dylan was so excited to ride the horses. He absolutely loved it! He did have a little bit of a time trying to get the horses to listen to him. Also, one time his horse and another horse weren't getting along and Dylan got kicked in the leg. Luckily it seemed to have kicked the stirrup mostly and he didn't even get a bruise (after we rubbed lavender on it). Those of us waiting at the stables had a bit of a scare as we could tell something was going on (this occurred just a few minutes into a trail ride, so they were out of sight) when the stable hands went riding off suddenly as though something was the matter. Luckily everyone was okay. And Dylan still loved riding the horses again.
Jayden was quite disappointed to find out he was four months too young to ride the big horses. He tried the pony ride once, put on a smile for the picture, but really wasn't all too thrilled about it. Lucky for him there were plenty other good things he could do.
The kids (and Uncle Ben) enjoyed having our very own hot tub. It as a bit cold for the pool, but we did have our own pool, too.
Ashlyn is such a mama's girl, but Uncle Ben always gives holding Ashlyn a try. He was so helpful all week long, taking Ashlyn as needed. By the end of the week, she seemed to have warmed up to him. Win for Ben!
We brought up our Woof 'Em sticks. I'm not really sure how to spell that, but there you go. Everyone had fun giving them a try. I think they were a hit.
And of course we LOVED the archery again! I was amazed to see Austin learn how to do it all completely on his own.
The lake was another favorite spot. We spent hours on canoeing and paddleboating. There was a little beaver we found, which was so much fun to see. Some also found a family of ducks, with small ducklings.
What a wonderful week! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!
