June Part Two

Busy, busy, busy! We got Jayden off to Clear Creek.  He was lucky to have Tyler in his group.  Mr. Harris sends out copies of tons of pictures.  Jayden is in most of these, though there are a few that he isn't in, but I included them to add to what the week was for him.

I love that my kids love to read and look at books.  Ashlyn loves this Ballerina book.

I promised Austin, Lauren, and Ashlyn we would take them to a splash park one day.  We struck out our first try (apparently they turn the water off for an hour each day, and we got there at the beginning of that hour), but we finally made it back and they loved it.

We had a fun day at Trafalga/Seven Peaks (whatever you want to call it).

Dylan was in two of the Lehi parades with a summer Jazz band class he did.l  We had some fun waiting at the park, getting balloon animals and ladybugs (which were really cool and had a wristband so it was like a bracelet), and looking at the children's parade entries while we waited for it to start.

My kids were getting after people for ringing the doorbell because they didn't want to bother Josie.  I told them we wanted Josie to be used to the doorbell, and that we did want people to ring it.  So, Austin and Lauren took it upon themselves to make some signs.  We had a few visitors wondering what the signs were about.

Dylan did summer swim team again.  He sure loves to swim, and its fun to watch him at his meets.

The block party was fun as usual.  The kids enjoyed lots of yummy treats, and we had fun hanging out and visiting with our neighbors.

June Part One

June was a seriously busy month!  Starting out with our camping trip, we then went on to playing, scout camp, and so much more.

Austin and Lauren have so much fun together.  This is a creation of theirs, which I believe is a mailbox.

We tried to get a good start on our swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's pool.  Ashlyn was a bit nervous, but loved it once she got used to it.

Grandma Kirk took all the Kirk family 8 and older to the Newsies Broadway Musical.  What a treat! I was surprised that they changed a lot of the words to the songs.

We are getting so excited for Josie to be ready to live with us.  A week before our date, we started to bring her over for a few hours.  She was unsure at first, but quickly made herself comfortable. This was so awesome! One of the perks of buying from a neighbor!

All the kids started their swim lessons and swim team (just Dylan this year).  Ashlyn was a bit nervous the first day, but by the third day she was a pro.

Lauren and Ashlyn are great sisters!  They are so sweet with each other.  What lucky girls they are to have their special friendship!

We celebrated Grandpa Kirk's birthday with him.  We love Grandpa!!

Austin played T-Ball this year.  He was a little unsure at first, but picked it right up.  He is a great batter and loved the season.

Dylan had an awesome week at Scout Camp.  He loves scouting and he loves camping.  One of the neatest experiences he had was doing the ropes course zipline.  Dylan is terrified of heights.  He really wanted to do it and triumph over his fear.  I love how when Dylan sets his mind to something, he presses forward and does it.  You can see how nervous he was as he started.  It was really hard for him after just getting partway up the pole.  He kept pausing, and even came down once, but eventually he made his way up.  This was really no simple thing, and through tears he got himself up on the platform at the top.  The staff got him hooked up to the zipline, and off he went.  When I asked him if he felt good about his accomplishment, he told me he didn't feel like it was worth how hard that was for him.  But I know that someday he will look back on this and see that he can do anything.  And that although we all have fears, it is those who face them who are brave. Dylan is one brave kid.  Another favorite part of this story to me is the way the other kids in his troop supported him.  They were cheering him on from the ground, telling him he could do it.

And the day finally came.  Here we are picking Josie up.  We were so glad she had already been to our house a few times, because she settled right in.  She whined for just a few moments at bedtime, and then once in the night.  Ever since she has just pretty much slept through the night.  She is one sweet puppy.

Devon loves his long bike rides.  One day he was headed up American Fork Canyon and passed a moose.  Then on his way back down, the moose was right in the middle of the road.  He had to wait a bit for it to move, and then carefully made his way past.
