Inspiration

Drone warfare is becoming increasingly prevalent, especially in urban areas.

What it does

Our system detects drones using audio analysis in real time, with a network of microphone throughout a city.

How we built it

We used a 4-node interferometry microphone system to determine the probabilistic position of a point source which would update real time with little latency. Many revisions improved the prototype from being a 2D heatmap to being a fully real-time and accurate 3D depiction of the area.

Challenges we ran into

Improving the accuracy was difficult

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We could detect relatively faint signals even with a lot of noise in the area, and the entire system relied solely on DSP without any ML/AI in the program.

What we learned

DSP is challenging... but highly effective at determining point sources of signals

What's next for 21st Sentry

We'll see! Maybe more testing & accuracy improvement.
