Our motivation for developing Accommodate was rooted in the poignant realization of the insufficient accountability and resources available for individuals with disabilities, especially when navigating the challenges of attending college. Recognizing the disparities in support systems, we set out to create a solution that would not only address this gap but also enhance the overall experience for disabled individuals pursuing higher education.

Accommodate serves as a transformative platform that introduces accountability and fosters a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities. It achieves this by incorporating school-level reviews and ratings specific to disability accommodations. Additionally, the inclusion of a chatbot streamlines the process, providing users with quick access to information about potential universities in their area.

The backbone of our project lies in a Flask backend complemented by a visually appealing Tailwind CSS frontend. Employing multiple language chains and leveraging Azure services, we successfully trained the chatbot to facilitate seamless interactions. Despite encountering challenges in accessing Azure resources such as AI search, SQL database, and CosmosDB, we ultimately overcame obstacles, ensuring the proper functionality of Azure AI search while grappling with connectivity issues in the database.

Our primary hurdles revolved around difficulties accessing Azure resources, particularly with AI search, SQL database, and CosmosDB. Although we faced setbacks in connecting databases properly, we persevered and successfully resolved issues related to Azure AI search.

Our team demonstrated exceptional cohesion, effectively collaborating to enhance our skills throughout the development of Accommodate. A notable achievement was the creation of a sophisticated chatbot, contributing to the overall success of the project.

This experience provided invaluable insights into working collaboratively in a production environment, emphasizing the importance of meticulous planning and effective teamwork. On the technical front, our learning curve included gaining comprehensive knowledge about AI chatbots and the intricate resources involved in the background.

Looking ahead, Accommodate is poised for further growth with the anticipation of engaging in more projects and hackathons. The success of this group, fueled by strong teamwork, encourages us to explore new opportunities and continue making impactful contributions in the realm of accessibility and education.
