There's a party Among Us

Inspiration

Hidden bars and nightclubs 🎵 have been all the rage for the past few years. The idea is to leave clues and hints around for the people to discover where the club is and how to get into it. We draw the inspiration for the app from this very idea.

What it does

We have all seen Netlfix's Teleparty and Amazon's very own Amazon Party 🎉. Now get ready for Among Us Party! It's a collaborative music application that allows people to stream music together using the Spotify API. Host your very own digital Music Party with all your friends! 🤝

The user can create a room where they can stream music of their choice. The guests are free to join the room using a Secret key 🔑

But wait... Where is this app ?? and how do I get my hands on the secret code?? 🕵️‍

The answer to that lies within among us 😉 drawing

We have built an Among Us-themed Platformer game. Winning the game️ leads you to the app and gives you access to the secret code. 🕵️‍

What if I lose? Well, I guess it's gonna be a lonely night for you, my friend. 😭

How we built it👨‍💻

There are two sections to this application. The first section is the Platformer game. This was built using Kaboom 💥 Library. The second section is the Music collaborator. This was built using React, Material UI for the front end, and Django for the backend.

Challenges we ran into🚩

One of the biggest challenges we ran into was combing React and Django together in a seamless manner. There were tutorials available online, but a lot of them used older versions of React and Django.

Accomplishments that we're proud of🏆

This was the first-ever hackathon for both of us and we are quite proud of being able to complete the project in a timely manner while hitting almost all of our major goals.

What we learned📚🤓

We managed to learn a new Library, Kaboom. We also were able to significantly level up our React and Django skills with this project. Besides the technicals skills, we also learned how to manage our time wisely and prioritize the core features before working on the minor ones.

What's next for Among Us Party 🚀

We plan on adding a few more levels and characters to the game section. We believe that this would make the overall experience a lot more fun. Besides this, we also plan on adding music recommendations to the application.
