Inspiration
Art was heavily inspired by eco brutalism, soviet era style, retro futurism, and the movie dune. Mechanics were inspired by the roblox game bladeball.
What it does
It is a fast paced, reaction timing game. With high flying action, explosions and an exciting audio and visual atmosphere.
How we built it
This project was built with 3d modeling tools such as blender, and programmed with typescript. meta.jesus designed the art style, game, programmed the ball, managed the project, and creative direction. Emmytr0n did all the 3d modeling. L_in_the_Meta did all the UI, and mobile functions, as well as managers and all other code. SquirtReynolds did the sound design.
Challenges we ran into
It was challenging to get the ball mechanic to feel right. It tooks lots of trial and error and math, but persistence paid off. We also ran into challenges with making all the inputs on mobile work correctly and to be a similar experience on both mobile and vr, but we worked through it and got it done!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are extremely proud of the immersive and exciting environment, that we believe will be one of the best on the platform. Were also very proud of meeting the deadline with how little time there was to make something spectacular.
What we learned
We learned a lot about typescript and how to make things work in mobile, and now feel much more confident when approaching making games for mobile.
What's next for BattleBall
Whats next is player ranks, titles, cosmetics, tournaments, competitions, and community building. We believe we have something special here and want to build a welcoming and competitive community.
