Designing and building a prototype game using the Meta spatial anchors for a co-located, fast paced multiplayer experience, designed to be a prototype for future concepts
The Concept A fast paced co-located game experience where players compete to see who can catch the most fish! The player is on their own boat, equipped with 4 stations :
- The Spear Barrel - Spawns spears for the player to throw at fish
- The Fish Net - Where caught fish go once they are captured
- The Bank - A chest dedicated for putting fish in for scoring
- The Cannon - Used to shoot special effect fish at the players opponent!
Gameplay The player uses spears to catch randomly spawning fish in between their boat and the opponents boat. Fish have a range of values, as well as some having special abilities that can be used against the opponent. For this build the player competes against a simulated opponent that can also use their abilities to stun or slow the player. Whoever scores 40 points first wins the match!
Application This build provides the groundwork for a game prototype with the ability to play with multiple people. It has potential to expand in the future with more fish variants, different game modes / game win conditions, changing team sizes, and shifts to full VR or advanced mixed reality.
