Inspiration
My current statistics professor told us that we could use any calculation medium. So to save time from typing in Excel, SPSS, or having to work on a calculator with several parenthesis, I decided to make my own calculation media.
What it does
Solves a handful of statistical equations covered throughout a statistics course. No need to memorize equations or stress when all the parenthesis when using a calculator; all you need to do is enter the required data, which should come straight from your assignment(s).
How I built it
Originally started as a C#/XAML project in Visual Studio, but since then converted to a JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3 project.
Challenges I ran into
Rewriting a majority of my app because it was pointed out to me that a ton of my code was pointless.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Having a free, limited (Lite), version called Alpha Stats already in the Windows 10 Store as a UWP application. Getting further in the development of a new UX, completing this app, and getting ready to release it to the Windows Store later in the day.
What I learned
1) Parenthesis are the worst. 2) The development process takes much more time even when it's a simple app like Alpha/Beta Stats. 3) Learned how to convert a multi-paged app into a one-pager, for the most part.
What's next for Beta Stats
More features, learning aids, visual examples, and any other elements that will help students in a statistics environment.
