Inspiration

Our inspiration comes from our motivation to broaden access to impact products. Our idea stemmed from the questions: “What if every one of us could find funding to bring our idea to life or what if you could support a social impact project that could change the world?” This sparked a valuable discussion that led to the creation of our product: BitResearch.

On BitResearch, you can donate $RSRH to your favourite researchers or you can even be a researcher earning $RSRH to fund your ideas no matter how crazy it is. Completely decentralized, commnunity based, censorship-free.

By providing the opportunity for independent funding of any projects, we would not only allow you to influence social and environmental changes but also help you to be a part of the community that bring people's innovative ideas to life.

What it does

BitResearch gives the opportunity to get independent funding to any social impact research by a user's donation in cryptocurrency. Every one of us could influence our world by the independent donation process to the interesting projects that could solve many important cases in our world.

Using the BitResearch a researcher could register their project into the platform and share their idea around the world to get a donation powered by blockchain. A user could choose the project he would like to support and using one button donate as much as he can.

The cryptocurrency donation approach provides the opportunity to not involve any third parties, governments, institutions, agencies etc. and make the donation process completely decentralized and faster.

How we built it

The web app built used React for frontend and firebase for database (a sample with different research papers). We also used thirdweb's SDK to connect the webapp to a smart contract, making it easy for the user to log in using a wallet.

Challenges we ran into

Given that our team spanned 3 time-zones, initial communication between all team-members seemed difficult. However, we soon realised how to leverage this into an advantage. We proceeded to organise team and gain more information about available hours for our team members in order to make the most of everybody’s daytime. This way, we were able to get a multitude of assignments and objectives completed in an extremely efficient manner.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the amount of work we were able to accomplish in a relatively short period of time. Our team was able to develop a working prototype of BitResearch. We are especially proud of our diverse, interdisciplinary team for leveraging their unique skills to exceed our initial expectations and we could not be happier.

What's next for BitResearch

Our next steps would be to solidify BitResearch as a viable business, conduct trials for efficacy, and add features to create a more user-friendly experience.
