Inspiration

We were inspired to expand our horizons by bringing the fun of VR gaming to mobile platforms. Rather than leaving VR behind, we saw this as an opportunity to include cross-screen gamers in the excitement. Combining the fun of a classic crowd favorite, bowling, with fast-paced, action-packed gameplay gave us the foundation for Bowler Bash.

What It Does

Bowler Bash redefines the bowling experience by putting players inside the ball! Designed for cross-screen play on mobile and VR, players are teleported into a bowling ball and launched down dynamic, randomized lanes full of challenges. With a 3, 2, 1 countdown, the action begins: aim for the pins to rack up your score, collect sparkling gems to boost your rewards, and dodge tricky obstacles to stay on track. But be careful, falling into the gutter ends your round! After each frame, scores and gems are tallied, and players return to the lobby, ready to tackle new lanes and climb the leaderboard. It’s a fast, fun, and immersive experience that brings the excitement of bowling to every screen!

How We Built It

We used our combined talents in design, programming, 3D modeling, and rapid learning to bring Bowler Bash to life in just five weeks. Starting fresh, we conceptualized, iterated, and executed the game entirely within the competition window. By focusing on a strong collaborative workflow, we turned an idea into a fully functional game.

Challenges We Ran Into

The tight timeline of five weeks presented several challenges. We faced:

  • Time constraints: Balancing ambition with feasibility.
  • Technical limitations: Ensuring cross-platform compatibility for VR and mobile.
  • Concept validation: Developing an idea we were confident could be executed well in a short period.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

We’re incredibly proud of:

  • Delivering a fun, polished game within such a short timeframe.
  • Overcoming technical and creative challenges as a team.
  • Proving we can move fast, iterate faster, and produce high-quality results under pressure.

What We Learned

We learned that:

  • Rapid iteration and team collaboration are key to success.
  • We can successfully balance creativity with practicality.
  • Building a game from scratch in a short amount of time is possible with focus and determination.
