What it does
The project is a Flask app that integrates a Desmos calculator for a math quiz. It works via a quiz page with an embedded Desmos calculator. A user must submit an answer and they will be told if that answer is correct.
How we built it
The project was built in Spyder using Python. The code is more like a skeleton/draft right now.
Challenges we ran into
The demo API isn't working properly. When the code is run, the calculator interactive is either not displayed on the HTML website or it is displayed twice, which affects the functionality of the project. However, if granted a Desmos API, this bug could be fixed and then the interactive could be distributed and used by anybody curious about calculus. Getting the prompts to also show on the website is
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Using HTML for the first time.
What we learned
Having fun is really important during a hackathon. It is hard to work on a project when you are not convinced you will be successful. By having fun and challenging myself to be optimistic, I really enjoyed the creative process during this hackathon.
What's next for Calculus Adventure
Fixing the API bug and letting some future calculus wizards test-drive the application and making the application to be more functional and have questions related to integrals, derivatives, and functions.
