Inspiration
I love creative coding and generative art, and I wanted to create a platform where creative coders can share their work with others.
What it does
Creates a platform where users can create generative art, and creative coding projects using JavaScript canvas, and also share their work with other users. Users can react to each other's projects and also find inspiration for their own ideas.
How we built it
The app uses Supabase and Postgresql for the backend, alongside GraphQL and stepzen. The frontend was built using Next.js.
Challenges we ran into
The code editor was difficult to implement especially when working with Next.js but I eventually managed to get it working.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating an open-source platform and community for generative art designers to showcase their work.
What we learned
I've learned GraphQL which is great for creating efficient and robust APIs and Stepzen, which makes it really easy and quick to create GraphQL applications.
What's next for canvas-art
I plan on adding more user interactivity features such as daily project rankings, and also coding challenges that users can compete on.
