💡Inspiration

We forget a few unique character ideas while working on a novel, screenplay, or another creative project because our brain can't hold them all. Charlatan is the ideal tool for assisting you in creating compelling character profiles by storing all of the data about your characters that your readers will fall in love with.

Writing stories with many characters is difficult because we keep hopping from one character's point of view to another. There is a risk of losing authenticity and importance of each character during this process.

⚙️What it does

Charlatan helps users create character profiles which contain all the information about each individual character, such as name, gender, age, appearance, motivation, backstory etc. Charlatan saves time over creating a new document and manually writing everything down without categorizing the information. It accomplishes this by preloading text areas into which users enter the character's gender, age, and description. Even if users unintentionally exit the application, the data is not lost. What's incredible about this feature is that it can be used without ever creating an account or logging in.

🧰How I built it

HTML, CSS and JavaScript were the languages used in the making of this project. Most of the code was cloned from a JavaScript Note Taking App GitHub repo by Dcode Youtube. I've made modifications to the code to create a Minimalist UI and added the gender and age input functionality.

💪Challenges I ran into

I've had no prior experience in coding JavaScript, so it was kinda tough to understand the source code. There were several instances where the entire page wouldn't load and I'd spend hours trying to find the bug only to realize they were typo errors.

🏅Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I've learned how to use GitHub and write a good README file. I managed to stay resilient when it was tough to manage time and work on a project using a language I wasn't familiar with.
