Connect to your TV mates
What it does
After you take a photo of the TV Logo with your phone, the TV cannel will be recognized and you will get an invitation to chat on Slack about the show with people who are also interested in it.
How we built it
We created an Android app which allows you to take a picture of the currently displayed TV Logo. It then will get uploaded to Custom Vision Service of Microsoft Azure, which does image recognition based on the dataset provided by Rohde & Schwarz.
Challenges we ran into
- We needed to modify the data to enable also recognition of blurry or rotated pictures
- We had to use different APIs and Languages
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Thanks to the suitable combination of Microsoft Azure Services we could avoid a custom server for our application and we also created a highly scalable serverless web service with Azure Functions.
- working Android App for seamless integration into the TV experience.
