Inspiration
We’ve all faced the same daily struggle: “What should I eat today?” With so many food apps available, very few actually understand the user — their mood, their fridge, or their food goals. That inspired us to reimagine food discovery as a fun, intelligent, and personalized experience. Chomp was born out of this idea — a witty, AI-powered food assistant that doesn’t just suggest meals but actually engages like a foodie best friend. We wanted to go beyond utility and inject real personality into food tech.
What it does
Chomp is a AI food assistant designed to help users overcome food decision fatigue while boosting grocery store engagement. Here's what it currently does: Converses like a foodie best friend — offering witty, relatable, and personalized food talk instead of robotic replies Suggests recipes based on ingredients already in the user’s fridge Identifies missing items and offers to add them to a grocery cart or fetch recipes or roast food choices Easily embeds into web platforms with a fun, friendly UI. The magic of Chomp lies in its ability to combine functionality with personality, solving a genuine user pain point while creating opportunities for grocery platforms to improve engagement and conversions.
How we built it
This project is built with . Lovable AI, Vite, TypeScript, React, shadcn-ui, Tailwind CSS, Figma
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built our first working live website and UI of an AI app using from scratch, Created a working demo of an intelligent food assistant that simulates real user flows — from recipe suggestions to cart creation Learned and implemented , intents, and custom logic within a tight hackathon timeframe Developed a unique brand voice and visual identity for “Chomp” — playful, bold, and memorable Worked as a highly collaborative team — aligning design, tech, and user storytelling seamlessly
What we learned
We learned how to integrate a custom frontend while maintaining brand consistency, styling, and functionality. Rapid Prototyping & Team Collaboration Working under a short deadline pushed us to make fast, focused decisions, divide roles efficiently, and maintain constant communication. Balancing Innovation and Feasibility We gained experience in prioritizing core features that deliver impact now, while leaving room for future scalability and improvements.
What's next for Chomp AI
We’re just getting started — here’s our roadmap for what Chomp can become: Real-time grocery platform integrations (e.g., Instacart, BigBasket, Walmart) so users can instantly buy missing ingredients Voice-enabled interactions via smart speakers or mobile assistants Health & diet tracking sync to recommend meals based on fitness or medical goals Personalized analytics dashboard showing eating trends, budget insights, and more Gamification & challenges like “Zero Waste Cooking Week” or “Fridge Cleanout Fridays” Partnering with recipe creators and nutritionists to expand meal options and credibility Our goal is to evolve Chomp into a holistic, intelligent food companion — one that doesn’t just talk to you, but actually gets you.
