Inspiration
Google Analytics is a great tool for keeping track of how our websites are doing. Knowing your users is one of the key aspects of making our business prospering.
Our goal was to allow restaurants managers and retailers to keep track of their clients and provide the information about them such as gender, estimated age, time spent, visits' frequency, etc. in real-time.
Thanks to that, they can respond quickly to certain problems, e.g. decreasing sales, no customers, marketing issues, inefficiency.
What it does
It captures a video from a webcam, recognises and tracks people faces along with their gender and estimated age. The data (which is owned by our client exclusively – privacy!) is being displayed in a form of easy to understand charts.
How we built it
Using Python & JavaScript. We used Microsoft Azure Face API and Microsoft Azure Storage for face recognition and video frames storage respectively.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Integrating static image analysis into live streaming video.
- Face recognition and tracking functions.
- Positive feedback we received so far.
What we learned
Azure is surprisingly simpler to set up than AWS! :)
