Inspiration

Cogni3D was inspired by the need to streamline the design process for architects and designers and make it more efficient and effective. We recognized the potential for AI to enhance the productivity and creativity of these professionals significantly and set out to create a tool that could harness the power of AI to assist with tasks such as drafting, dimensioning, and design iteration. Our goal was to create a tool that would allow architects and designers to focus on the most creative and strategic aspects of their work, while also providing them with the support and guidance they need to make informed design decisions.

Cogni3D is a web-based modeling tool that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to assist architects and designers with their work. It integrates multiple AI capabilities, including natural language processing, image recognition, and machine learning, to analyze and interpret user input, generate design options, provide real-time feedback and recommendations, and assist with tasks such as dimensioning and drafting. Cogni3D aims to enhance productivity and efficiency by streamlining the design process and enabling users to explore more ideas and arrive at the best possible solutions. How we built it

Cogni3D was built using a combination of front-end technologies such as React and ReactThreeFiber for 3D rendering. We utilized OpenAI's GPT-3 and Dall-e for natural language processing and image recognition. The design assistance functionality was developed using the open-source AI system, Architext.

On the back-end, we employed a microservice architecture to handle the various AI capabilities and to ensure scalable performance.

Throughout the development process, we worked closely with a team of architects and designers to ensure that Cogni3D met their needs and addressed the challenges they face in their work. The result is a soon-to-be powerful, user-friendly tool that we believe will greatly enhance the productivity and creativity of architects and designers in the early design phases.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced while building Cogni3D was the integration of multiple AI technologies into a single platform. Each of these technologies has its own set of APIs and integration requirements, and it was a complex task to ensure that they all worked together seamlessly.

Another challenge was the development of the design assistance functionality, which required significant research and development to create an AI system that could understand and interpret design concepts and provide helpful recommendations and feedback.

Additionally, we encountered challenges in the user interface design and user experience, as we needed to create a tool that was intuitive and easy to use for professionals who may not be familiar with AI technologies.

Overall, building Cogni3D was a complex and challenging endeavor, but we are proud of the result and believe it will be a valuable tool for architects and designers.

What's next for Cogni3D

We are committed to improving and expanding our platform. Some of the things we are working on for the future include:
