Inspiration
What's rarer than a woman in tech? Two women in tech!
All too often we see women in tech struggle to connect with each other, a problem that becomes increasingly detrimental to their careers when it comes time to work on projects. Anybody in tech can tell you the importance of side projects when it comes to employment, but women tend to be stuck riding solo when creating their projects due to the intimidating (majority male) environment. Collabherate offers a solution in the form of a social media app that helps you find partners for your next project.
What it does
Have a great project idea but can't find a partner with the right skills? Have skills but can't think of a project idea? Collabherate offers a solution!
Collabherate is a platform where you can post listings for project partners based on technical skills, and search for new projects to work on based on your skill profile. Just create a profile, add your skills, and start searching!
How we built it
We developed a prototype of our app in Figma. There is a sign up/log in page, a projects page, a profile page, and communities page.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble deciding which aspects of the projects were crucial on the projects page. In the end we decided to include the title of the project, a short description of the project, and the areas of tech involved.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of how the components of the pages tie together and are cohesive.
What we learned
We learned how to capture the main elements of a functioning social media app and build a prototype of it.
What's next for Collabherate
Using our Figma prototype, we would build a working mobile app using React Native. Once we launch our mobile app to the public, we would continue iterating to fix bugs and add more features.
