Inspiration
Connor is currently weighing his college options as he will be enrolled this upcoming academic year. We decided to make that process easier.
What it does
College Compare takes two colleges, your financial aid numbers, and your preferences, to output a personalized score of each college out of 100. It is meant to make the college decision easier for the prospective student!
How we built it
We built a front end and back end as separate run times, but connected them at the end by utilizing API calls.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a challenge with the front end sending a GET request to the back end and not receiving the expected response. It was towards the end of the competition when the deadline was cutting close!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to build the front end and back end separately, and then integrate them into one application at the end.
What we learned
Some of us got a big picture understanding of npm and how it works, some learned how to structure a front end, while others worked with sending HTTP requests. Everybody learned something along the way.
What's next for College Compare
We will continue to build out the website, add more features, and polish it into something we can be proud of!
