Inspiration
We wanted to create a game that didn't have the flashiest effect but had a meaningful impact. One of our closest friend is color blind and we wanted to help inspire others to create color blind friendly applications in the future. To create not alternatives but symbols and letters that help indicate gaming elements rather than solely based on colors.
What it does
Essentially, our game involves a color blind wizard who has to navigate his way through different worlds while being attacked by different colored monsters. He destroys the monsters using his wand which shoots lazers. The novelty comes in the form of his disability to see different colors. So the player has to change the color scale of the game to allow the wizard to see the different monsters.
How we built it
The project was made with the help of Phaser 3 library.
Challenges we ran into
When we started building the project we realized that most of the documentation/examples were based on Phaser 2 but since we were working on Phaser 3 we hit some roadblocks and had to work around them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building an entire game in 1.5 days, we feel like we outdid ourselves. We are proud of creating a game that we will definitely play and enjoy and hope you guys will too.
What we learned
We learnt about the world of browser based game development and about game objects such as sprites.
What's next for ColorBlindWizard
System UI such as menu, high score, health. Sound effects, co-op abilities.
