Climactic scenes like the one from Jaws of Chrissy’s last swim get so much of their power from the musical experiences built for them - imagine any of your favorite movies without a soundtrack. The sense of purpose, power and meaning behind the the scene loses its resolution without the soundtrack.
Music is so immensely powerful in how people receive experiences.
Now lets go back to a different story- It’s the one of most of us here last night saw, and all of us at some point in our lives. When things are down to the wire, theres a lot of pressure to keep momentum, the music we listen to while we work can completely reshape that experience I personally listen to cinematic music when I work because it makes me feel like the hero of my current plot line - my impending paper deadline or a problem set.
Music while working gives you a sense of purpose, an opportunity for mindfulness, and a space to receive and give human expression.
We were moved by the hypnotic nature of Christen Lien’s loops and how they enable focus and productivity with the richness of buildable layers - and wanted to create an experience where you’re no longer a passive listener but actively collaborating with artists to construct an environment where your music conforms to you.
With concert, we’re blurring the boundaries between performance, audience and performer.
With harmony, When you’re typing in the zone, the music intensifies - it layers, speeds up and gets louder. With counterpoint, your music counters you and encourages you to keep pace to keep the music at a calmer stage.
We see this fitting really well into any future ecosystem for nearly any interaction modality - biometric data like heart rate, alpha/beta wave frequencies, even running pace could be inputs into such a system, marketed as a focus tool for a market that encapsulates anyone with a computer.
