Inspiration
More than 46 million Americans live in rural areas according to the CDC. We wanted to address the prominent healthcare problem of having constant care and reducing the need for long distance travel to receive immediate care.
What it does
ConnectHealth is a mobile application providing a way to diagnosis medical concerns using Natural Language Processing, such that the user submits any recent symptoms and the application provides a list of possible related concerns from the symptoms. From there, users can interact with a AI chatbot to answer any further questions. The application has a Geographical Information feature, where the user can see the concentration of cases around them and most common words in the news to keep up-to-date about health-issues.
How we built it
We used Figma to build the wireframe and prototype and show the various features we would like to include. We also built an initial mobile application on Android Studios using Java.
Challenges we ran into
When developing the idea, we wanted to constrain the problem based on our time limit. We had a lot of initial ideas and narrowed it down. In order to ensure we had a finished product, we started with a Figma prototype. If we had enough time, we wanted to also practice some app development skills.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud to combine our technical skills to solve our problem. We are also proud of our learning accomplishment in UI/UX using Figma and being able to start the initial stages of actually developing the mobile application in Android Studios.
What we learned
We learned how to use Figma and the steps involved, from wireframe to prototype to an initial version of the application.
What's next for ConnectHealth
The next steps would be finishing the mobile application to include all of the features from the Figma prototype. More specifically, we would like to add a more in-depth AI chatbot feature.
