Inspiration

Across many African communities, finding trusted service providers, local businesses, jobs, and opportunities remains difficult. People often rely on word-of-mouth recommendations, scattered social media posts, or personal networks to access essential services. At the same time, skilled professionals and service providers struggle to reach potential customers despite having the expertise to help.

We were inspired by this disconnect. We saw an opportunity to build a platform that bridges the gap between people who need services and those who provide them while leveraging AI to make discovery faster, smarter, and more accessible. Our goal was to create a solution that empowers both individuals and businesses, helping communities connect more effectively in the digital age.

What it does

Consolve is an AI-powered platform that connects users with trusted service providers, local businesses, jobs, and opportunities in one ecosystem.

Platform Design

The platform was designed around three key groups:

This structure allows Consolve to function as both a marketplace and a community-driven platform.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing a platform that users can trust. Service marketplaces depend heavily on credibility, so we had to carefully consider verification, onboarding, provider profiles, and reputation systems.

Implementing phone number authentication and OTP verification while maintaining a smooth user experience also proved challenging. We needed to strike a balance between security and accessibility.

Another challenge was designing an effective matching experience. Users need to quickly find relevant providers among many options, which required thoughtful work on search, filtering, and recommendation systems.

Finally, like many hackathon teams, we had to make difficult decisions about scope and prioritization. We focused on delivering the most impactful features within a limited timeframe while maintaining a solid foundation for future growth.

Most importantly, we transformed an idea inspired by everyday problems into a functional platform with the potential to create meaningful impact.

What we learned

Building Consolve taught us valuable lessons about creating technology for real-world communities.

We learned how to design and build scalable marketplace systems, implement secure authentication workflows, and integrate AI into practical user experiences. We also gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by both service seekers and service providers when trying to connect online.

Beyond the technical lessons, we learned the importance of focusing on user trust, accessibility, and simplicity. A successful platform is not just about technology, it is about creating experiences that solve genuine problems and improve people's lives.

The hackathon experience also reinforced the importance of teamwork, rapid iteration, prioritization, and building with impact in mind.
