Inspiration

We all have small chores that pile up—ordering food, booking appointments, getting quick answers. We wanted a simple way to hand any of those off in one sentence.

What it does

Conversely is a chatbot that can take in any task you give it in plain English. Say, “Book me a haircut for Tuesday at 6pm,” “Order a large pepperoni for pickup,” or “Ask the dentist about earlier openings.” The bot figures out the steps, talks naturally on your behalf over the phone when needed, and reports back with the result.

How we built it

We wired a friendly voice chatbot to make real phone calls and hold a smooth back-and-forth conversation. You describe the task; it listens, speaks politely, follows instructions, and keeps going until it’s done or needs your approval.

Challenges we ran into

  • Making conversations feel natural (no talking over people).
  • Keeping audio clear and timing just right.
  • Being transparent that it’s an AI and respecting call rules.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

  • A working demo that takes a plain-English task and completes it over a real phone call.
  • A cheerful, talk-first experience that feels helpful, not robotic.
  • A simple setup that’s easy to run and adapt to new tasks.

What we learned

  • Clear, specific requests (“Tuesday at 6pm, any stylist”) dramatically boost success.
  • Tiny timing tweaks—pauses, confirmations—make it feel human.
  • Stating upfront that it’s an AI builds trust and speeds things up.

What’s next for Conversely

  • More channels: text, email, and web forms—so it can tackle any task, not just phone calls.
  • Smart handoff: pass the call to you for payments or identity checks, then return to the bot.
  • Task memory & preferences: remember your go-to order, favorite times, and contacts.
  • Automatic notes and summaries after each task.
  • Multi-language support and built-in consent/privacy safeguards.
