Inspiration
During the current look down and our universities on hold we decided to put this team together to practice our skills and help the world to over come the current situations. We came up together very fast and started to follow the guidelines of the hackathon, then we started to think of what we can do to cover the main points required and we ended up after intensive research of collecting the symptoms and level of severity and we ended up after seeking sufficient knowledge of discussing how we could help the hospitals to get a geolocation-enabled apps that let people report symptoms and how we could use these symptoms to finalise a report which can be send to doctors on a chat room where they can contact with patients remotely and give them instructions. Plus since the app will be using the location of the user we thought we can add a functionality in the app where it can shows the local hospitals around the user and therefore it will be able to track the cases around each hospital and potential can send a note to the hospital to increase the test kit when required.
What it does
Basically the app will provide better data to help the healthcare system determine where to deploy test kits and will use geolocation-enabled apps while letting people report symptoms and provide chat room between the patient and doctors so they can provide feedback according to the report that patient will fill with symptoms and concerns.
How we built it
Despite having only 1 Programmer in our team, he manages to do a great job of developing the whole project on his own. we used android studio to develop the whole app using KOTLIN as a programming language
Challenges we ran into
1st challenge was not being able to support in the programming pit despite all having different programming languages such as python, C++ and MATLAB we weren't able to support much our program who used KOTLIN, however we managed to provide him with the data base and the symptoms as well as writing a proposal for the program and finding different ideas to build the app. 2nd challenge there was a problem using the API of google maps which took us lots of time to figure out how to solve it and we ended up using older techniques of implementing the API instead of the up to date one
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the way we manage to distribute the tasks and how we come together as a team and despite having one KOTLIN programmer in our team we managed to finish the project and get a descent outcomes.
What we learned
I have learned how to build a UI interface using Android-Studio using XML and also how the Android app is made of views that can be either image, text, and buttons.
What's next for Covid19Hack
We are looking forward to continue developing our app and the outcomes of the hack and looking for the feedback to implement it and implement the comments to make it even better. We are also looking to add more functionalities that we could not mange to finish in the 48 hours hackathon which will allow a full track of the patients and provide feedback to the hospitals so they could deploy more kits if the demand is the number of report increases in the area. we can even include the results of the test where the patients can get notified by their test results.
