Cozy Evening VR was inspired by a very specific and often forgotten feeling: being alone at home as a child, when the evening stretches quietly ahead of you and nothing is required.

That sense of freedom without purpose: no schedule, no expectations, no performance became the foundation of the experience.

What it does

Cozy Evening is a personal virtual apartment for Meta Quest, focused on freedom and atmosphere.

Imagine being a child who stayed home alone for the evening. The house is quiet, the light outside is warm and golden, and for the first time you have complete freedom. You can run, jump, explore every corner, touch everything, and play with objects however you want with no rules, no supervision, and no expectations. This sense of freedom and curiosity is the core feeling of Cozy Evening.

If you ever want to simply enjoy a cozy apartment that belongs only to you, a place where you can slow down, feel safe, and step away from everyday noise, you don’t need to rent it or leave your current place. You can just put on your Meta Quest and step inside this space, instantly. Cozy Evening exists for those quiet moments when you want comfort, privacy, and calm, without effort or distractions.

The experience takes place in a modern apartment at sunset. Soft evening light enters through the windows, filling the space with warmth and calm. The interior is modern and minimal, designed to feel comfortable and familiar.

Most objects in the apartment are interactive. You can grab, move, throw, drop, or rearrange items naturally. Objects react to each other using realistic physics, allowing playful experimentation: stacking things, tossing them across the room, or simply fidgeting with everyday items. The environment encourages spontaneous interaction, movement, and exploration.

Sound design is deeply tied to the space itself. The apartment uses spatial, location-based audio that changes as you move through rooms. Approaching different areas reveals subtle, realistic sounds:

• a TV quietly playing in the living room

• kitchen appliances emitting soft ambient noise

• outdoor sounds near the windows

• authentic bedroom ambience

These audio cues help the apartment feel alive and responsive, reinforcing the feeling of presence.

Cozy Evening is about freedom, play, and atmosphere. It is a safe, calm digital space where you can disconnect from pressure, explore at your own pace, and reconnect with a simple sense of joy and the feeling of being alone at home, with the whole world momentarily belonging to you.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was making the apartment feel alive without adding heavy complexity while focusing on the design. Every sound had to be subtle, spatial, and believable, never pulling attention away, but still making the space alive. Location-based audio was carefully tuned so that sounds gently emerge and fade as you move, reinforcing presence without overwhelming the senses.

Lighting was critical. Sunset lighting needed to feel warm and natural while remaining efficient for Meta Quest VR. The space had to look cozy and grounded without relying on heavy post-processing or dynamic lights, which required careful work.
