Inspiration
"Crypto Gallery" was born out of a shared passion for art, technology, and education. We took on this challenge with the belief that the world of NFTs represents not just a groundbreaking innovation but also an opportunity to transform the way we interact with art. In the spirit of innovation and collaboration, we were inspired by the challenges set forth by Google and Microsoft at ShellHacks 2023. These challenges fueled our determination to create a platform that not only educates but also celebrates the incredible world of NFT art. Our project symbolizes the intersection of creativity and technology, where NFT artists can shine, and art enthusiasts can explore. We are driven by the vision of making art more accessible, immersive, and educational for everyone. This project is a testament to our dedication and the remarkable potential that emerges when talented individuals come together to create something meaningful. What it does
Crypto Gallery is an immersive and educational VR art exhibition website aimed at introducing users to the world of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) while offering a unique art and buying experience. Our platform includes the following main features:
NFT Art Exhibit: Users have the opportunity to browse a curated NFT environment consisting of artwork exhibits and a featured gallery sourced from special artists on OpenSea and the NFT marketplace, through our user-friendly interface (UI) prototype. They can view digital works of art in a museum-like environment while being able to efficiently get information about each piece.
Virtual Reality (VR) Experience: To help beginners understand NFTs, we provide comprehensive educational resources at the beginning of our page. Users can access articles we wrote on specific topics about NFTs before being immersed in a virtual art exhibition where they have the ability to learn more about the artists who created these NFT pieces and can buy the art through our exhibition. This allows users to step into the world of NFT art, providing them with an immersive experience.
Auction Platform: For individuals, collectors, and enthusiasts interested in owning these NFTs, we offer an auction platform. Users can bid on featured art directly on the website or find links to purchase on OpenSea as an alternative.
Artist Promotion: Beyond providing a marketplace for artists, our platform also aims to give them the recognition they deserve for their art. We are dedicated to supporting artists, and as such, each piece of art is accompanied by detailed artist biographies, links to their art portfolios, OpenSea profiles, and listings.
Challenges we ran into
At Shellhacks, we aimed to incorporate mixed reality into our project, despite being novice coders. We found it challenging to determine and deploy appropriate technologies for this endeavor. Furthermore, this marked the debut for most of our team members at an official weekend-long hackathon. We were unsure about the feasibility given our skillsets and the constricted timeframe.
Additionally, one of our team members had never used Github or Git before. They also self-taught prototyping on Figma for the very first time. We're immensely proud of our teammates for tackling these challenges head-on and not allowing that to dampen the overall experience.

Notably, this hackathon served as the majority of our team's first to a weekend-long coding competition, demonstrating our capacity to adapt to demanding, hectic circumstances. What we learned
Along the way, we developed Crypto Gallery to advance not only our technical skills but also our professional and personal selves. As novice programmers, we improved our ability to integrate mixed reality technology into web development, a skill set that creates great opportunities for projects in the future. We learned important lessons about teamwork, communication, and time management during ShellHacks itself, skills that are critical in any development setting. The importance of commitment and self-improvement was also demonstrated by one of our team members' learning journeys, which ranged from learning Git and Github to mastering Figma for prototyping. We are gaining stronger problem-solving skills and greater adaptability thanks to these experiences, which will help us face new problems in the field of technology and innovation. Overall, Crypto Gallery has been a transformative learning experience, equipping us with the knowledge and skills needed to continue pushing boundaries in the tech industry.
What's next for Crypto Gallery
As we finish this hackathon learning many new skills, Crypto Gallery is ready to expand and change. We want to grow our collection of NFT artwork to assist additional artists and improve our teaching materials to give more thorough explanations of the NFT and blockchain industries. Building an integrated auction platform for art enthusiasts, encouraging community involvement, and establishing business relationships with platforms and artists are all on our development path.
Since we only had one weekend to finish our project, we plan to work on the front end of our website, referencing our Figma prototype, and utilizing React and JavaScript, as we have already established our GitHub repository.
In order to offer a smooth experience across devices, we are also emphasizing accessibility and user-centric features for user convenience. The exciting plans for Crypto Gallery's future as a vibrant center for art, education, and community include integrating Augmented Reality (AR) into our platform so that, if you're using a mobile device, you may view NFT art directly in your own space.
Additionally, we are continually looking for methods to improve how users engage with the website. We'll be implementing tools to promote user comments, conversations, and teamwork inside the Crypto Gallery community. In addition to appreciating NFT art, users should be able to interact, offer thoughts, and connect with other art lovers and artists in an immersive and engaging environment. We think that by boosting user engagement, we can make the NFT community's Crypto Gallery a trusting and welcoming place, using experimentation and innovation.
