Inspiration
We were inspired by the Valentine's Day Theme! We realized that there are many pre existing applications to look for dates (Tinder, Bumble, etc.), with less of an emphasis on what comes next! Specifically, we hoped to build a web app to help make spending time with your significant other easier and more fun!
What it does
Date Kit offers three tools to help users liven up their dating routines. We include a date planner, complete with three "spinners" so users can create spontaneous date agendas with a different sweet treat, board game, and romantic movie.
We also created an invitation feature, so users can draft out short date invitations in their browser, and quickly download them as a TXT file to send later.
Finally, after a successful date, Date Kit provides a date diary, where users can record summaries of their activities for future reference.
How we built it
We used HTML/CSS and JS with jQuery.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we ran into was making the invitation feature, specifically making it possible to download the content from the textarea into a TXT file. We were able to do this by using anchor for downloads.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of making a generally fully functional application in a short amount of time. It was fun creating a Valentine's Day project and we like how the UI matched the theme as well!
What we learned
We learned a lot about developing websites, and how you can use css and js together.
What's next for Date Kit
We would definitely like to spice up the invitation feature, so users can add images or customize font styling.
