Ever feel like you need a friend for your desk? Now you can! Desk Buddy is a little personalized to you friend, who can help you with simple tasks on your computer, give you ideas, and be a friend!

Do you ever need a friend?

A little buddy to help you if you need while you work? Someone to give it to you straight, or to help you through your daily life? you need a buddy to help you navigate your setup and help you out when needed? That's what Desk Buddy is for!

We built Desk Buddy because we love that future of an fun holographic assistant, inspired by cute avatars that sit on your screen like Clippy, Bonzi Buddy (but he's not a virus, we promise), and Merlin. Except instead on your screen, Desk Buddy sits on your desk!

Desk Buddy can do all of the things that you'd want a friend and assistant to do, He can open applications, give you fun recommendations, and help you out when you need! Desk Buddy is also explicitly personalized to you, and knows your name, and knows the perfect way to respond to you!

Desk Buddy is built with the Snap Spectacles and Snap Lens platform, projecting him in your real world space, with the ability to place him anywhere you want. Desk Buddy is run off of Google Gemini to give him that wonderful personality and snappiness, and the wonderful little world he lives on was generated partially with Meshy.

One of the challenges we faced was perfectly integrating a personalized AI response system, in as close to real-time on the spectacles as possible, to do so we were able to set up external server that communicates with the Spectacles, as well as building a system that is able to detect intent, based on whether or not your are meaning to talk to Desk Buddy or not!
