Inspiration

This keyboard is inspired by fourth generation consoles, mainly the gameboy color.

What it does

At the moment, this is a keyboard with a slider on the side to allow for volume control, although we do plan on adding modularity down the line.

How we built it

The PCB was designed in KiCad, and the case was designed in Fusion. This keyboard uses the QMK firmware wireframe, which we have tailored to fit this project.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we ran into was the limit of pins we have from the controller. We designed this with the atmega32u4 chip in mind, which only has 24 pins. We wanted to add additional features but were limited by this constraint.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We got a render that looks really good We have a stable roadmap for the future that should be relatively easy to implement We have working firmware We got Vectary to work

What we learned

How to design stuff in F360 How to use Vectary to display 3D models

What's next for dmgK

Planned features:

Bluetooth connectivity

Modularity: inspired by gameboy attachments, we plan to design this to have modules to enable further personalization. This includes modules like an LCD module, a macropad module for creators, and a pinout module for tinkerers to experiment with.
