Inspiration

Natural disasters severely impact communities and real estate markets, yet predicting their economic aftermath remains difficult. Inspired by this challenge, we built DRIPX (Disaster Risk & Insurance Prediction eXpert) to empower better preparation and informed decision-making through predictive insights.

What it does

DRIPX leverages advanced AI (Google Gemini & Cloud Vision APIs) to analyze disaster images/videos, predict economic impacts, insurance trends, and real estate market shifts, and provide real-time, structured disaster data analysis. It also validates the accuracy of predictions to build trust.

How we built it

Frontend: Streamlit for intuitive UI and easy data uploads. Backend: FastAPI and Python to handle API requests and JSON processing. AI & Data Processing: Google Gemini API for predictive analytics; Cloud Vision API for accurate disaster detection and analysis. Data Storage: Google Firebase Firestore for secure and real-time storage.

Challenges we ran into

-Handling inconsistent JSON outputs from AI models, requiring robust parsing methods. -Integrating Google Cloud services smoothly with FastAPI and managing authentication securely. -Ensuring frontend-backend synchronization with large files (images/videos).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Successfully integrated Google Gemini and Cloud Vision APIs for high-accuracy predictions. -Robust handling and processing of JSON data for reliable frontend and backend communication. -A user-friendly interface, making complex disaster analytics accessible to everyone. -Having a 96% predictive accuracy for real estate

What we learned

-Deepened our understanding of working with AI-driven APIs for real-world data. -How to build resilient backend endpoints to handle dynamic frontend requests and AI-driven data. -Efficient team collaboration for rapid prototyping and debugging.

What's next for DRIPX

-Complete working Insurance Assistance -Expanding into mobile apps for immediate access during disasters. -Collaborating with insurers and government agencies for broad impact and practical implementations.
