Inspiration
We wanted to make a game that would help educate others at the same time.
How it works
You start as a hydrogen atom (1 proton). By moving around, you collect more protons and electrons, with the goal of obtaining Ununoctium. At each step, you are able to see the element associated with your current atomic number. If there are too many electrons or too many protons, the particle becomes too positive or too negatively charged, so you lose.
Challenges we ran into
- Creating a moving reference frame
- "Attaching" electrons/protons to the current atom
Accomplishments that we are proud of
- Successfully modelling electron orbitals
What we learned
- How to use GitHub to collaborate on a project
- Circle packing problem
What's next for Elementor
Elementor has mamy possible paths for the future, most of which involve adding additional concepts in chemistry. For example, we may also have the player pick up neutrons to obtain certain isotopes of an element.
