Inspiration
We saw how many delivery services such as Uber and Lyft do not care about the environmental impacts of carbon emissions.
What it does
Our app detects the optimal route from a user-defined start-to-end location in order to reduce carbon emissions. Our app provides a generated map, estimated time of arrival, and carbon emissions.
How we built it
We delegated the tasks among our team members and held frequent meetings to keep everyone on track.
Challenges we ran into
In general, we had challenges connecting the front end (HTML & CSS) to our back end (Google Maps API & Python) using Flask. Specifically, we had trouble transferring data between them until the very end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we learned and utilized Flask on the go to create our first full-stack project.
What we learned
We learned how to code together as a team using GitHub, and we gained a deeper understanding of how full-stack development works.
What's next for Emtrack
We will implement additional features such as a rewards system (to reward choosing the most carbon-efficient path) and geolocation (to confirm that the user is actually going on the path that they claimed). We hope to put our project on the app store once we have completed these features.
